Daily Inspiration: Meet Julia Tourville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Tourville.

Hi Julia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As first-time business owners, we (my husband, Travis, and I, set out to create something special for our community—a place where people could slow down, connect, and enjoy a thoughtfully crafted cup of coffee. Our dream was inspired by a simple belief: coffee is more than just a drink. It’s a reason to gather, start conversations, build relationships, and strengthen a community.
When we realized our town didn’t have a local coffee shop, we saw an opportunity to create one. We envisioned a welcoming space where everyone—from young families to longtime neighbors—could come together, relax, and feel at home.
From day one, our mission has been about more than serving great coffee. We want to create a place where people can meet with friends, share ideas, work, celebrate milestones, or simply enjoy a quiet moment. We hope our coffee shop becomes a gathering place where memories are made over lattes, friendships begin over pastries, and every guest feels genuinely welcome.
We’re incredibly grateful to be part of this growing community and are honored to serve it every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped us grow. As first-time business owners, we’ve had to learn so much—from navigating permits and construction to managing budgets, sourcing quality products, and figuring out the day-to-day operations of running a coffee shop.

Opening a new business also comes with uncertainty. There were moments when plans changed, unexpected obstacles came up, and we had to adapt quickly. Balancing the excitement of bringing our vision to life with the realities of owning a business wasn’t always easy.

Through it all, we’ve stayed focused on why we started: creating a welcoming place for our community. The encouragement we’ve received from family, friends, and our customers has made every challenge worthwhile. Those experiences have made us more resilient, and we’re excited to continue learning and growing as we serve our community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a wife, a mother to two wonderful boys, and now a first-time coffee shop owner. Before opening the coffee shop, I earned my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and worked as a speech therapist for several years. I truly enjoyed helping others and found the work incredibly meaningful, but after becoming a mom, I realized I was looking for something that aligned more closely with the life I wanted to build for my family and my community.

That’s when I decided to pursue a long-time dream of opening a coffee shop. While it may seem like a completely different path, both careers share something important—bringing people together, building relationships, and creating meaningful connections.

Today, I’m most proud of creating a space where people feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door. We specialize in serving thoughtfully crafted coffee in an environment that encourages conversation, community, and belonging. Since our town didn’t have a local coffee shop, it’s been incredibly rewarding to provide a place where neighbors can gather, families can spend time together, and friendships can grow.

What sets us apart isn’t just the coffee—it’s the experience. We strive to make every customer feel seen, valued, and at home. Our goal is for every visit to feel personal, whether it’s someone’s first time stopping in or they’re one of our regulars. Building a business that brings joy to others while strengthening our community is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I feel grateful to do it every day.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about our city is its strong sense of community. People genuinely care about one another, support local businesses, and are always willing to lend a helping hand. There’s something special about seeing familiar faces, building relationships with our customers, and creating a place where neighbors can gather and connect. It’s a growing community with so much potential, and we’re grateful to be a part of it.

If I had to choose one thing I’d like to see improve, it would be having more local gathering spaces and small businesses that bring people together. That’s one of the reasons we opened our coffee shop—to help create a place where people can slow down, meet with friends, work, or simply enjoy a great cup of coffee. As our community continues to grow, we’re excited to see even more opportunities for connection and local businesses to thrive.
