Today we’d like to introduce you to Janee’ Roach.
Hi Janee’, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to where I am today began in 2022, the year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, there was another significant challenge taking place beneath the surface. Just one month before my cancer diagnosis, I completed a rehabilitation program for alcohol and pill addiction. In the beginning, my sobriety was fragile, but I was determined to reclaim my life and make my dreams a reality.
As I continued cancer treatment, I quickly realized that maintaining a traditional 9-to-5 position as a case manager was becoming increasingly difficult. The side effects of treatment were overwhelming, and I knew I needed to create a new path forward. It was during this season of adversity that I founded Pink Music 4 Change Ministries.
My organization provides motivational speaking services, individual musical performances, and live band entertainment. Our primary mission is to spread love, peace, hope, and joy through the power of music. This cause is especially meaningful to me because, as a survivor of rape, domestic violence, addiction, and breast cancer, I know firsthand how healing music can be. Music has carried me through some of life’s darkest storms, difficult days, and even moments when I struggled with suicidal thoughts.
From a professional standpoint, I strive to provide every client, audience, and community partner with a positive and uplifting experience. Whether speaking at an event, performing as a solo artist, or leading a band, my goal is to inspire, encourage, and bring people together through music and personal testimony. My services are tailored to enhance each event while delivering a message of hope, resilience, and perseverance.
Today, I am proud to be over four and a half years sober and committed to living a life of purpose. Surviving everything I have endured has strengthened my desire to intentionally make a positive impact on society. While I miss aspects of my work as a case manager and social worker, I am grateful for the opportunity to work for myself and serve others in a way that combines my passion for music, advocacy, and community empowerment.
Through Pink Music 4 Change Ministries, I continue to transform my pain into purpose, using my voice and my story to uplift, inspire, and encourage those who may be facing challenges of their own.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Actually, the road was not smooth at all, but rather bumpy. However, I personally believe with every bump or challenge that I face came strength, came conviction, came endurance, came determination.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For work, I am a motivational speaker as well as a professional musical performer.. There are normally several projects that I am working on at one time, including occasional speaking engagements, cultural, musical performances, and live band experience performances. My speaking voice is rather quiet however, I am known for a bold singing voice. I am most proud of being inducted into the low country musical Hall of Fame in 2024 What sets me apart from others is my spirit and fight to survive in every situation.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My siblings and my children have been my biggest support system. As I navigated through years of addiction, they were there to ensure that I did not lose the essence of who I was. My siblings were huge cheerleaders when it came to making my return to Music and motivational speaking after battling such a long addiction. They truly believed in me. Even when others walked away. They stood solid.
