Life & Work with Avgotdam of South Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avgotdam.

Hi Avgotdam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, but also would visit Atlanta a lot during the holidays to see family until eventually I stayed. I started creating music young but didn’t really begin taking it seriously until after high school. Once I committed, me and my bother Ziggy Zoe began investing in our own equipment so we could record ourselves, that’s when I really started focusing on sharpening my pen and sound over time.

I’m one of seven kids in my family so growing up I was inspired by so many different genres of music that my parents siblings or cousins would always play so growing up I learned to be more creative and versatile with the music I create today.

You know being that a lot of my family is from New York. I grew up, listening to a lot of Biggie, DMX and Jay-Z. I feel like that’s why a lot of my storytelling style comes from.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like the biggest challenge is being able to stay focused. I feel like there are just so many things that can distract you or block you from trying to be successful in the dreams that you’re chasing but you gotta continue to find ways to keep going, I also feel like the people you meet and trust is very important as well. I learned that keeping like-minded people around you that want the same things that you are striving for can help push you further cause even though you may feel alone in this industry, it’s the people around you that’s gonna get you far.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Avgotdam, a Carolina-born, Atlanta-based melodic rap/R&B artist documenting the grind in real time. I make wavy, emotional hip-hop that still hits like trap, and I turn my real life—wins, losses, late nights—into music, mic performances, and visuals.

I specialize in melodic trap and R&B vibes in that Gunna / Lil Baby / Don Toliver lane, mixed with my own Carolina roots and Atlanta hustle. I’m not just dropping songs; I’m building a whole world around the music with vlogs, behind-the-scenes, and performance content so people can follow the journey as it happens.

I’m most proud of taking myself from Carolina to Atlanta and being able to tell my story growing up from Charleston, as well as building a real catalog on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and TikTok, and doing it independently while balancing real-life responsibilities. Every release—from “Karma” to “Make It Work,” “Don’t Lie,” and “Don’t Blame Me”—is proof that I’m leveling up, not just talking about it.

What sets me apart is that I’m really in the field with it: gritty, rockstar-influenced visuals, street-fashion energy, and raw, honest lyrics, all while showing the unfiltered grind, not just the highlights. I bring artists and motion together, turning performances, mic sessions, and content into moments that feel bigger than just one song or one post.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
The biggest risk I took was moving to a whole new city where barely anybody knew me and having to start fresh. When you take a risk like that you’re juggling a job, bills, and a music career, so every move has consequences, which makes you think harder before you leap. That’s why your “risk” is usually things like investing time, money, and energy into music, content, and shows instead of short‑term comfort. That’s why standing still feels more dangerous than moving. You gotta treat risk as something you respect not something you chase blindly but you accept it as part of leveling up as an independent artist.
