Rising Stars: Meet Ruchi Miller of South Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruchi Miller.

Hi Ruchi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in America to Indian parents, and growing up I was always surrounded by vibrant colors, beautiful traditions, incredible fashion, and celebrations that brought people together. Looking back, I think that early exposure to culture, design, and hospitality planted the first seeds of what would eventually become my passion for wedding planning.

Professionally, my path began in education because I knew I loved to help people. I earned my undergraduate degree in English with a minor in secondary education. Immediately following, I got my Master’s degree in English, and I became a teacher—a role that I truly believe I was called to do. Teaching has given me the opportunity to connect with people on a deeply human level, helping students feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving big goals. What many people don’t realize is that the skills that make a great teacher are often the same skills that make a great wedding planner: reading a room, anticipating needs, balancing personalities, staying calm under pressure, solving problems quickly, and turning overwhelming visions into manageable steps.

I’ve always been a creative person as well. All throughout college, I worked at Pier 1 Imports and loved designing tablescapes and creating beautiful displays. Throughout my teaching career, I continued to use that creativity through creating yearbooks, designing projects, and finding ways to make the classroom collaborative and fun. Eventually, I realized I wanted an outlet that combined both sides of who I am—the creative designer and the organized problem-solver.

Wedding planning became the perfect fit. It allows me to serve people during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives while using the skills I’ve developed. Whether it’s helping couples navigate decisions, creating beautiful experiences, managing countless moving pieces, or simply being a calming presence, this work feels like a natural extension of who I have always been. At my core, I love helping people feel supported, cared for, and confident, and wedding planning gives me the opportunity to do that in a truly special way. The name of my business Weddings With Ruchi is intentional. I want clients to feel like they have another partner in the planning game; they have someone who is WITH them every step of the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think many of my greatest challenges have also become my greatest strengths.

When I was very young, my father suffered a traumatic brain injury that permanently changed the course of our family’s life. Watching my mother navigate that reality while raising our family taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of moving forward even when circumstances are difficult. Those lessons have influenced every stage of my life.

As an entrepreneur, the biggest challenge hasn’t been the work itself. It’s been learning to trust myself. Like many business owners, I’ve experienced moments of imposter syndrome and questioned whether I was truly qualified to pursue something new. Yet every time I’ve put myself out there, trusted my instincts, and taken the next step, opportunities have followed.

What I’ve learned is that building a business is just as much a mindset journey as it is a professional one. Hard work matters, but believing in yourself matters too. Every time I’ve challenged the limits of what I thought was possible, I’ve exceeded my own expectations. Learning to trust my abilities, embrace uncertainty, and take action before I felt completely ready has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wedding planner and coordinator, which means I help couples through every stage of the wedding journey. For some clients, that involves comprehensive planning, from developing the overall vision and design to sourcing vendors, managing budgets, and bringing all of the details together. For others, I step in as a coordinator, creating timelines, managing logistics, and ensuring the wedding day runs smoothly so couples and their families can be fully present and enjoy the celebration.

One area I particularly specialize in is multicultural weddings, especially weddings that blend South Asian and Western traditions. As an Indian American, I have a deep appreciation for the beauty and significance of cultural traditions, and I love helping couples find ways to honor their backgrounds while creating a celebration that feels uniquely their own. These weddings often involve multiple events, family expectations, and traditions that need to be thoughtfully woven together, and I enjoy helping couples navigate that process with confidence.

What sets me apart is my combination of organization, creativity, and genuine care for the people I serve. My background as an educator has taught me how to communicate clearly, anticipate challenges, manage many moving parts at once, and help people feel supported during stressful situations. I don’t just focus on logistics. I focus on relationships.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. At the end of the day, wedding planning is about much more than timelines, décor, and checklists. It’s about helping people feel cared for during one of the most important seasons of their lives. Knowing that couples feel supported, understood, and confident because I was part of their journey is the accomplishment I’m proudest of.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
One of my favorite parts of this industry is the relationships. If you’re a wedding professional or local business owner in the Greenville and Upstate South Carolina area, I would love to connect. Some of my strongest friendships and most trusted professional relationships have come from collaborating with other vendors. Being able to confidently recommend a photographer, florist, baker, or venue because I’ve worked alongside them and seen their talent firsthand is incredibly valuable for my clients.

For couples who are planning a wedding, I always start with a complimentary consultation where we can talk through your vision, your priorities, and how I can best support you. Whether you’re looking for full-service planning or wedding day coordination, my goal is to make the process feel less overwhelming and more enjoyable.

People can also support my business by following along on social media @WeddingsWithRuchi on Facebook and Instagram. I love sharing wedding inspiration, celebrating my couples, and connecting with others in the community. My business has grown through referrals, collaboration, and genuine connections, and I am always grateful for the people who trust me to be part of such an important season in their lives.
