Daily Inspiration: Meet Chelsea Dials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Dials.

Hi Chelsea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Chelsea Dials, a 29 year old South Carolina native, mother of four, entrepreneur, and preschool teacher. I’ve known since a young age that I wanted to do something to show up in this world and I believe I’m living in that now. I’ve been in the military, attended North Carolina A&T State University, and attended TWO hair schools, but nothing hit like starting something of my own. In 2018, after I had my first daughter, I started really learning how to do my own personal makeup. After a few months, I began experimenting on others until I got my first “real client.” My aunt Robin Scott, married photographer, Alonzo Scott, and he asked if I would be willing to do makeup for one of his shoots with an upcoming model. I jumped at the opportunity and it’s been on from there. That was the beginning of “Damsel Beauty Studio.” In 2022, I created “Damsel Cosmetics.” I took my passion and put it into making and customizing my own cosmetic products. Of course businesses have high and low seasons and when I hit my low season, I took a job at McDonald’s. Not going to lie, I thought that was the end for me. But it’s beauty in the struggle. So many people spoke life into me and encouraged me not to quit, so I didn’t. In 2025, not being sure I was qualified, I applied to be an Associate Teacher at the Darlington County Community Action Agency and was hired. Since then, I’ve used that opportunity to build a better life and continue with my businesses and education. Currently in 2026, I’ve rebranded to “House of Damsel”, I’m in full content creator mode, I’ve created “Juiced by Chels” which features freshly pressed fruit juice and other beverages to come, and I’m attending Coker University to receive my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. Choosing to persevere landed me right here in my first magazine interview.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey in fact has not been the smoothest. I’ve dealt with not having enough product, to having no sales or clients, and completely taking a break from my business. Life really can life sometimes, but I had to push through it. Becoming a mom 4xs, added extra stress in reference to reaching my goals. I can’t let them see me give up. I have to keep going. Trouble doesn’t last always, so I’m back at it full throttle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My roots are in doing makeup professionally. I create looks for the everyday glam, dramatic sultry glam, and editorial looks. My main speciality is what I coined my “Signature Glam.” Everyone comes to me for that particular look and I feel good about that because I perfected it. Starting from the bottom to now having the loyal clientele that I have is what I’m most proud of since starting my business. To know I do it that good that make people always come back for more is so satisfying. What sets me apart from other professional MUAs is simple, I’m that girl! The talent is there, the skills are there, and the vibes are unmatched over here. Confidence is key in this business.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is my obsession with “The Cheetah Girls.” I would replay the movie over and over singing and dancing word for word alone in my room. That was my happy place. I’m smiling hard now thinking about it. I still long for my own Cheetah Sisters, so if you’re reading this, I’m shooting my friendship shot lol.
