At the age of 13, my stepfather bought me a lawnmower and a blower and would drop me off from house to house cutting grass. That’s really where my hustle started. As I got older and finally got transportation, I started working at McDonald’s. After a while, I got tired of working a regular job and decided I wanted to build something of my own.
That’s when I came up with SC TVs Installments & More. I spent about 7–8 years building my name through TV mounting, installations, and service work across the community. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not always been easy for me. I’ve faced a lot of hurdles along the way — supporting myself, dealing with little to no support from people I loved, covering out-of-pocket expenses, and going through seasons where I didn’t have a stable job or steady income.
I remember when COVID hit, everything slowed down for me. It was a real drought. Even while trying to build my businesses, there were times I didn’t know how things were going to work out. But I kept pushing.
With my new company, Precision Med Transport LLC, I poured almost everything I had into making the vision come to life. I invested money into the office, supplies, equipment, licensing, and building the company from the ground up. Then a month later, I still wasn’t even making money from it yet.
Doing all of this while battling depression has not been easy either. There were days I questioned myself, days I felt overwhelmed, stressed, and mentally drained. But through every setback, every slow season, and every obstacle, I’ve continued to stay focused, keep faith, and keep building.
Because at the end of the day, I know where I’m trying to go, and I know this journey is bigger than just me.
