Community Highlights: Meet Robin Roach of Robin’s Just Desserts LLc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Roach.

Hi Robin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
What began as a creative outlet for my son Bryan, who has Down syndrome and autism, quickly turned into something much bigger than I ever imagined. About six years ago, I started baking more seriously as a way for us to connect, create, and build confidence together. Over time, friends, family, and customers began requesting custom desserts, especially my French macarons and gluten-free treats, and Robin’s Just Desserts was born.

As someone who takes food allergies and dietary restrictions seriously, I wanted to create desserts that people could feel excited about instead of feeling like they were “missing out.” That passion helped shape our business into a home-based bakery focused on beautiful, high-quality gluten-free desserts that still taste indulgent and fun.

Bryan continues to be the heart behind so much of what we do. Our brownie and blondie line, Bryan’s Brownies & Blondies, was created not only as part of our menu, but also to help create opportunities and awareness for individuals with special needs. Watching Bryan navigate the world has inspired me to build a business centered around inclusion, kindness, and recognizing people for their abilities.

Over the years, the business has grown from small custom orders into farmers markets, wholesale accounts, corporate events, holiday collections, and specialty dessert tables. We’ve expanded our menu to include macarons, cookie tarts, cake tacos, decorated sugar cookies, brownies, blondies, and more — always focusing on creativity, quality, and community connection.

Today, Robin’s Just Desserts is more than a bakery to us. It’s a business built around family, inclusion, and creating desserts that bring people together and make them feel celebrated.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of our biggest struggles have honestly been becoming known and helping people understand the vision behind our business. We’re not just selling desserts — our mission has always been centered around inclusion, awareness, and creating opportunities for individuals with special needs, especially through Bryan’s role in the business.

As we expanded, it became very important to me that Bryan stayed the central focus and heart behind what we were building. It would have been easy for the business side to take over, but keeping our mission visible and meaningful has always mattered just as much as growth.

It can also be difficult at times balancing the day-to-day responsibilities of running a business while navigating Bryan’s therapies, appointments, and needs throughout the week. Like many families with children who have special needs, flexibility becomes part of everyday life, and there are times when schedules shift unexpectedly or the personal side of life has to come first. Learning how to balance both worlds has definitely been one of the biggest challenges.

We still sometimes face challenges getting into certain farmers markets or events because not everyone fully understands our vision or what makes our business different. At times, that can be discouraging, but it has also motivated us to continue advocating for inclusion and showing what’s possible.

Another challenge has definitely been the technical side of running and growing a business. Things like websites, online ordering, social media, invoicing systems, printers, and marketing tools have all been a learning process for us. A lot of it has been self-taught through trial and error, and there have definitely been rocky moments along the way.

Overall, every challenge has helped us grow stronger, more creative, and more determined to keep building something meaningful for our family and community.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Robin’s Just Desserts LLc ?
Robin’s Just Desserts is a home-based bakery specializing in handcrafted gluten-free desserts that are designed to be both beautiful and delicious. We are best known for our French macarons, creative dessert flavors, and our ability to make gluten-free desserts feel exciting, elevated, and inclusive instead of limited.

Our menu includes macarons, brownies, blondies, cookie tarts, cake tacos, decorated sugar cookies, dessert tables, and specialty seasonal collections. We also offer corporate dessert catering, custom event desserts, and farmers market favorites that rotate throughout the year. One thing customers love about our brand is that we are always creating new flavors and unique dessert experiences while still focusing on quality and consistency.

What truly sets us apart is the heart behind the business. Robin’s Just Desserts was inspired by my son Bryan, who has Down syndrome and autism. Inclusion and awareness are deeply woven into our brand, especially through Bryan’s Brownies & Blondies, which helps keep our mission visible as the business grows. We want people to feel joy, connection, and acceptance when they interact with our business — not just when they eat our desserts.

One of the most meaningful parts of what we do is being able to bring joy to children and families who have never been able to safely enjoy custom desserts because of gluten allergies, celiac disease, or gluten sensitivities. Hearing from parents whose children can finally have birthday treats, holiday desserts, or fun bakery experiences without feeling left out is something that means the world to us and continues to motivate everything we do.

We are also very proud of the relationships we’ve built within our local community through farmers markets, wholesale partnerships, corporate events, and repeat customers who have supported us from the beginning. Being able to grow a business while staying family-centered and mission-driven is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people recognize us not only for our desserts, but also for our professionalism, creativity, and authenticity. From custom packaging and seasonal menus to our customer service and community involvement, we work hard to create an experience that feels personal and welcoming.

At the end of the day, we want people to know that Robin’s Just Desserts is about more than sweets. It’s about creating desserts that bring people together while building a business rooted in inclusion, family, creativity, and community.

How do you define success?
Success to me is about much more than sales or growth. Of course, building a successful business matters, but I truly define success by the impact we have on people and our community.

Success is seeing Bryan grow in confidence and knowing he is part of something meaningful. It’s creating a business where inclusion, kindness, and awareness are part of the foundation instead of just an afterthought.

It’s also hearing from parents whose children with celiac disease, gluten allergies, or sensitivities are finally able to enjoy custom desserts safely and feel included in birthdays, holidays, and celebrations. Those moments mean everything to us.

I also define success as building something authentic — a business that stays true to its mission while continuing to grow. Being able to support our family, connect with our community, create opportunities for individuals with special needs, and bring people joy through what we make is what success looks like to me.

At the end of the day, if people feel seen, included, celebrated, and cared for when they interact with our business, then I feel like we’re succeeding.
