Meet Lauren Busman of South Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Busman.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in South Georgia and developed an interest in photographing the rural landscapes. My camera and I went everywhere together. When I moved to Columbia, SC for college at the University of South Carolina, my friends and classmates asked for graduation photos and professional headshots. I started building a business that kept growing, and soon after, I got into wedding photography. Through the years, I’ve developed my warm, romantic style of photography that emphasizes storytelling while giving an editorial feel to the photos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not always easy. After I graduated from college, I moved to Charleston, South Carolina where I basically restarted my business. The town is full of established and talented wedding photographers, so it was important for me to network and collaborate with photographers and other wedding vendors to get more involved in the industry. I am introverted, so I always remind myself to do my best and connect with others who are often experiencing the same struggles of running a business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I focus on storytelling through warm, romantic imagery that has an editorial yet natural feel. I think my unique style and ability to connect with others sets me apart.

How do you think about happiness?
I love exploring new places and restaurants! It’s fun to experience it and be able to give others recommendations when asked.
