Rising Stars: Meet KeriAnn Rizzo of South Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to KeriAnn Rizzo.

Hi KeriAnn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Through my own healing journey, I have been introduced to some of the modalities that we now offer at The Healing Lotus. I suffered from debilitating anxiety and agoraphobia and have been on a healing journey for 11 years. When I’d finally had enough of my suffering, I joined a program at a wellness center and discovered the importance of a positive and supportive gut-brain relationship, ways to balance my hormones, how to properly detox, and what foods serve the body and what foods do not. I was also introduced to yoga during this time. Since then, I have practiced yoga regularly and even became an instructor. I also participated in other activities and workshops that supported me during the early stages of my healing. Things like yoga, reiki, breath work and sound healing have been tools to help me overcome the suffering I was experiencing. My hope is to support and help others that may be struggling similarly so that they may experience relief and more self love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I have faced many challenges. In 2012, I ruptured my appendix and had an emergency appendectomy. I didn’t know this would be the beginning of a lot of suffering to get me on the right path. I’d already been struggling with anxiety before the appendectomy, but it got worse from 2012-2015. I suffered from panic attacks that would keep me from social events and even grocery shopping. For a while, I would numb and cope. In 2014, I had such a severe panic attack that I thought I was having a heart attack and called myself an ambulance. Once I learned that it was all stemming from anxiety, I knew I had to make a change. I started with quitting smoking, then a year later was when my now husband encouraged me to take a bigger leap. I invested in a program at a wellness center that paved the way for my wealth of knowledge now. Every year I learn something new about better ways to support my body.
Once I learned yoga, I realized that I wanted to become an instructor. My family and I were living in Arizona 2021-2023 and during that time, I trained to become a yoga teacher and a reiki practitioner. The community that I was a part of became something that I wanted to belong to for as long as possible. When we moved back to the Carolinas in 2023, I searched for a similar community and couldn’t find it. Then, I started to hear the whisper to create it myself. Over the next 2 years, I held jobs to build a foundation and began hosting various workshops and building a client base. I actively searched for the perfect space to create my own yoga and wellness studio. I studied the industry. I connected with the community to learn what they needed. When I felt it was the right time, I began to move forward and faced several challenges, lost business relationships, lost my job, lost friendships. My integrity and my mission were what kept me focused and motivated. I knew what I envisioned was exactly what was needed in this community. Finally, everything aligned and I opened The Healing Lotus in April of 2026. The Healing Lotus is more than a yoga studio; it is a sanctuary for healing, connection, and transformation. Rooted in a holistic approach to wellness, we create a nurturing space where every individual is supported exactly as they are, no matter where they are on their health and wellness journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a yoga instructor and mobility coach. I specialize in 1:1 customizable sessions to help others increase their mobility and decrease anxiety. Through a breathing and movement practice, others can learn to reduce stress and use movement to improve balance. My passion is to help and guide others and I have carefully hired other instructors to offer the same at The Healing Lotus. We offer daily yoga classes and personalized 1:1 sessions designed to help clients reconnect with their bodies, calm the mind, and restore balance from within. Our healing modalities include yoga, reiki, breathwork, meditation, mobility training, and sound healing. Each modality is thoughtfully integrated to support the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. We also host frequent workshops designed to encourage participants to experience a deeper level of healing, peace and love.
What makes us different is our commitment to authentic community and inclusivity. We are not focused on perfection or performance; we are focused on creating a safe, welcoming environment where people can heal, grow, and belong. Whether someone is stepping onto a mat for the first time or deepening an existing wellness practice, they are met with compassion, support, and genuine connection.

How do you define success?
Success is achieved through gratitude. When you pause and find the good, you realize how abundant you are. Living a healthy lifestyle allows me more opportunities to learn about my own body so that I can share knowledge with others. I am surrounded by success by having my health, a roof over my head, a deeper relationship with myself, a calmer mind and a community to breathe and move with.
