Rising Stars: Meet Sherena Timmons of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherena Timmons.

Hi Sherena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story begins with being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2016. After finishing Chemo and Radiation, my hair didn’t grow in completely. It grew back in spots. I had bald spots about a quarter size in some spots. I started trying products in hair supply stores. Those didn’t help. I thought ” What if i make my own”? Going through Chemo and Radiation with no decisions of the medicines your taking made me think more of what I use on and in my body.

I am where I am today because of awesome people that believed in what I make and what I am doing. They chose to give me a chance to sell my products in their stores. I also started doing vendor events and pop ups to introduce my products to people. My products do not help anyone if they do not know about them! I’ve been blessed with and in my business that these products have helped so many people!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I say that in a different way than some would actual think I mean. I am an introvert that didn’t know much about business. I am great at creating but not so great at interacting with people. It became a time when I had to get out and introduce myself and my products. That was a great learning experience in itself. I had to learn about interacting, explaining and answering questions about my products. It also allowed me to learn and get out of my comfort zone. I also had to learn balance between the two. Sometimes, we get so caught up in business, we forget about ourselves.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make natural products that can help people with hair, skin and wellness alternatives. My products are created to give people another options than the medicines of today. I make products that can help with Eczema, psoriasis, pain, ADHD, Fever Blisters and more. I am most proud that these products have helped so many people. I have customers tell me how they have been looking for something to help them and they found it in one of my products! That brings my heart joy! I think what sets me apart from others is that I think differently than other people. My work background is in manufacturing. Most of my jobs were to troubleshoot machines. I would watch a machine and when it went down, I would have to figure out what went wrong and how to get it back working. So, I look at things with the same mentality. What is the problem and what is the best way to make it work better, naturally?

How do you define success?
I define success as being happy with what you are giving to the world and being happy with the life you are living. Money is essential to live but not the total package. Money doesn’t mean anything if you are miserable. If you are walking in joy and peace and you can give that to someone you come in contact with, that’s success.
