Rising Stars: Meet Danielle Himsey of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Himsey.

Hi Danielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I started The Carolina Girls Promos, LLC out of a passion for both people and conservation. We both grew up around the outdoors, he graduated from Clemson and became a farmer and shortly after meeting him, I fell in love with agriculture too. Over the years I became heavily involved in conservation work through organizations, local districts, and community outreach. At the same time, we noticed there was an opportunity to bring a more professional, energetic, and relationship-focused approach to fundraising events and banquets within the outdoor industry.

What started as a small idea quickly grew into something much bigger. In the beginning, it was simply about helping organizations increase engagement and fundraising at events. I recruited women who were not only professional and outgoing, but who genuinely cared about conservation and representing these organizations well. From there, word spread quickly throughout the Southeast.

Today, The Carolina Girls works with conservation groups and outdoor organizations across multiple states, nationwide, helping with fundraising banquets, conventions, trade shows, corporate events, and promotional campaigns. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside organizations like Ducks Unlimited, South Carolina Waterfowl Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Coastal Conservation Association, Safari Club International, and many others.

One thing we are especially proud of is that we’ve built more than just a business … we’ve built a team and a family atmosphere. Many of the girls have grown personally and professionally through this experience, and seeing their confidence, leadership, and success develop has honestly been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

A huge part of our success has also come from the relationships we’ve built over the years. This industry is very relationship-driven, and I’ve always tried to lead with authenticity, professionalism, gratitude, and hard work. There were definitely moments in the beginning where we weren’t sure if this idea would truly work long term, but staying consistent, treating people well, and believing in what we were building helped us continue to grow year after year.

At the end of the day, I’m incredibly grateful that a business built around conservation, community, and empowering women has turned into something that positively impacts both our clients and our team.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most businesses, it definitely has not been a completely smooth road, especially in the beginning. Starting something new in a very traditional, relationship-driven industry came with its challenges. There were moments where we had to prove not only the value of the business itself, but also prove that women could have a strong, professional, and respected role within the outdoor and conservation space.

One of the biggest challenges was building credibility early on. We were asking organizations to trust us with representing their events, interacting with sponsors and donors, and ultimately helping increase fundraising efforts. That trust had to be earned over time through consistency, professionalism, and results.

Another challenge was learning how to grow while maintaining the culture and standards we wanted for the company. As we expanded into more states and events, it became important to find the right people: women who were dependable, professional, hardworking, and genuinely aligned with our mission and values. Protecting the reputation of the business has always been extremely important to me.

There were also plenty of behind-the-scenes struggles that come with entrepreneurship in general. The long hours, travel, scheduling issues, difficult conversations, financial risks, and learning how to wear multiple hats at once. In the early years especially, I was figuring things out as I went and learning through experience.

At times, balancing business ownership, personal life, conservation work, and the pressure of constantly growing was overwhelming. But I think those challenges also helped shape both us and the company into what we are today.

If anything, the obstacles made us more determined. They taught me the importance of resilience, relationships, adaptability, and staying true to the vision even when things weren’t easy. Looking back now, we’re grateful for those struggles because they pushed us to grow both personally and professionally.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At its core, The Carolina Girls Promos, LLC specializes in promotional staffing, fundraising support, and event representation within the outdoor and conservation industry. We primarily work with conservation organizations, banquets, conventions, trade shows, and corporate events, helping create an energetic and professional atmosphere while also assisting with fundraising efforts, sponsor engagement, and guest interaction.

What makes our business unique is that we are much more than “event staff.” We truly become part of the organizations and events we work with. Our team helps sell items, engage attendees, assist with live auctions, represent brands professionally, and help create an experience that keeps people excited and involved in supporting conservation efforts.

Over the years, we’ve become especially known for our professionalism, work ethic, energy, and the relationships we build with clients and attendees. In an industry built heavily on trust and reputation, I’m proud that many of our partnerships have turned into long-term relationships and friendships.

One thing I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve created within the company. I’ve always wanted The Carolina Girls to feel empowering, supportive, and team-oriented. Watching women grow in confidence, communication skills, leadership, and professionalism through this business has been incredibly rewarding. Many of the girls have developed lifelong friendships and opportunities through being part of the team, and seeing that impact means just as much to me as the business growth itself.

I’m also proud that we’ve helped normalize and strengthen the presence of women within the outdoor and conservation industry in a positive and professional way. We’ve shown that women can play an important role in conservation fundraising, community outreach, and event success while still bringing personality, professionalism, and authenticity to the table.

I think what truly sets us apart is the balance between professionalism and genuine passion. We care deeply about the organizations we work with and the missions they support. We’re not just showing up to work an event … we’re helping support conservation, wildlife, outdoor heritage, and the communities surrounding those efforts. That passion, combined with strong relationships and consistency, is what has allowed us to continue growing year after year.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck can open doors, but hard work, consistency, and relationships are what keep those doors open. We have definitely experienced moments of both good and bad luck throughout my life and our business journey.

On the good side, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to meet people who believed in us and supported The Carolina Girls Promos, LLC early on, sometimes before we had fully proven ourselves. Those relationships and opportunities played a huge role in helping the business grow. We’ve also been lucky to work in an industry filled with passionate people who genuinely care about conservation, community, and supporting one another.

At the same time, I think some of what people call “luck” really comes from showing up consistently, treating people well, and being willing to work hard even when nobody is watching. A lot of opportunities came from simply being dependable, building relationships over time, and staying committed during difficult seasons.

Of course, there have been moments of bad luck and unexpected challenges too. Those things that were outside of our control. Like any entrepreneur, we’ve faced setbacks, stressful situations, disappointments, and moments where things didn’t go according to plan. But honestly, some of those situations ended up teaching us the most and pushing us toward growth we may not have experienced otherwise.

I’ve learned that resilience is incredibly important in business. You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it. Looking back, even some of the hardest moments helped shape the direction of our lives and business in a positive way.

At the end of the day, I’m very grateful for the opportunities, people, and experiences that have helped us get to where we am today. I believe luck may create opportunities, but character, work ethic, and relationships are what truly build a lasting business.
