Conversations with Jenna Light

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Light.

Hi Jenna , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t set out to become a wedding photographer, it started a lot simpler than that. I just wanted to capture my own kids. The little moments, the messy ones, the ones that go by way too fast. Then it turned into photographing other people’s children… and before I knew it, I was being trusted with something even bigger, people’s memories.
What began as a way to hold onto my own life grew into a passion for preserving everyone else’s.
Today, I’m a wedding photographer, booked all the way into summer 2027, and somehow still just as in love with “freezing time” as I was in the beginning. The difference now is that I don’t just document the day, I help create an experience. I make sure the wedding day feels smooth, fun, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved, not just the couple.
And I don’t do it alone. I’ve built an incredible team who shares that same energy and care, and together we show up ready to capture it all—the big moments, the quiet ones, and everything in between.
Because at the end of the day, it’s always been about the same thing: holding onto what matters most.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth ride? Definitely not.
Nine years in, and I’m still learning something new every single time I pick up my camera—whether it’s a new pose, a new way to see light, or a new gadget that somehow changes the game all over again.
This journey has stretched me, challenged me, and pushed me in ways I never expected. But that’s also what’s kept me in love with it. There’s always something more to learn, something to refine, something to make even better for the people who trust me with their memories.
And honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a wedding photographer who focuses on capturing real, emotion-filled moments. The kind you don’t even realize are happening until you see them later and feel everything all over again. My style leans into storytelling, mixing candid moments with just enough guidance so nothing ever feels stiff or forced.
I’m known for being more than just the photographer on a wedding day. I show up as your calm in the chaos, your hype girl, and the one making sure things keep moving without it feeling rushed or stressful. I’m there for the big moments, but I’m also watching for the quiet in-between ones that end up meaning the most.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my couples give me. Being booked out through summer 2027 means everything to me, because it shows that people connect with not just my photos, but the experience I create.
What really sets me apart is the energy behind what I do. I’ve built an incredible team that cares just as much as I do, and together we make sure everyone feels taken care of. We know when to step in and guide, and when to step back and let the moment happen naturally.
At the end of the day, I want my couples to actually enjoy their wedding day. Not just have beautiful photos, but have a day that felt easy, fun, and completely them. The photos are just the proof of it.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
If I had to narrow it down to one thing, it would be how much I genuinely care.
I care about my couples, their experience, their people, and every moment that makes up their day. That care shows up in how I prepare, how I show up on the wedding day, and how I handle everything behind the scenes. It’s not just about getting the shot, it’s about making sure my couples feel comfortable, confident, and fully present.
Because of that, I’m always paying attention. I’m reading the room, anticipating moments before they happen, and stepping in when needed without ever taking over. It’s a balance, and it comes from truly caring about more than just the final gallery.
That’s what’s carried me through these last nine years and what continues to push me to keep growing every single time I pick up my camera.
