Meet Kesha Hamilton of Bluffton, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Hamilton.

Hi Kesha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m the owner and lead designer of LJG Events, a name that holds special meaning as it honors my mother, Laura Jean Garrett. What started as a creative outlet gradually evolved into something much bigger as I realized how much impact thoughtful event design can have on people’s experiences.

In the early stages, I explored a variety of services, but over time I became more intentional about the direction of my business. I saw a gap between basic event décor and truly memorable, elevated experiences—and that’s where I found my lane. Today, I specialize in creating high-impact focal points through custom balloon installations, LED marquee displays, and curated backdrop designs that transform spaces and give guests something they naturally gravitate toward and want to photograph.

My growth hasn’t just been about expanding services—it’s been about refining my vision. Through hands-on experience, community involvement, and completing programs like Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll), I’ve developed a stronger focus on serving clients who value quality, creativity, and a seamless experience. That same intentional approach to building relationships has led to meaningful partnerships through strategic networking, along with my role as an ambassador with the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.

Now, LJG Events is centered around helping clients bring their vision to life in a way that feels effortless on their end but impactful for their guests. I’ve learned that it’s not just about decorating a space—it’s about creating a moment people remember.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has played a role in shaping both me and my business.

In the beginning, one of the biggest struggles was trying to be everything to everyone. I offered a wide range of services and took on almost any opportunity, which led to burnout and made it harder to clearly communicate my value. Over time, I realized that growth wasn’t about doing more—it was about doing the right things with intention.

Another challenge has been navigating the business side while also being the creative. As a business owner, you’re not just designing—you’re managing operations, finances, client communication, and strategy. Learning how to set boundaries, price my work appropriately, and protect my time was a major turning point for me.

Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve also had to shift my mindset—especially around pricing, confidence, and positioning myself in a more premium space. Investing in programs like Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) and surrounding myself with a strong network, including my involvement with my local chambers, helped me see my business differently and operate more strategically.

Looking back, those challenges were necessary. They pushed me to refine my vision, build a stronger foundation, and create a business that is not only creative, but sustainable and aligned with the level of service I want to provide.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a creative, I specialize in designing high-impact focal points that transform event spaces and create moments guests naturally gravitate toward and want to photograph. Through LJG Events, I focus on custom balloon installations, LED marquee displays, and curated backdrop designs that bring a client’s vision to life in a way that feels both elevated and seamless.

Over time, I’ve become known for my ability to take a concept and turn it into a visually striking experience without overwhelming the client in the process. I pride myself on creating designs that feel intentional—where every element works together to enhance the overall atmosphere, whether it’s a corporate event, wedding, or private celebration.

What I’m most proud of is the evolution of my work and my mindset. I’ve shifted from simply providing décor to delivering an experience—one that not only looks beautiful but also serves a purpose, whether that’s creating a branded moment, elevating a guest experience, or giving people something memorable to engage with.

What sets me apart is my focus on both design and service. I’m not just thinking about how something looks—I’m thinking about how it functions within the event, how it supports my client’s goals, and how to make the entire process feel stress-free. That combination of creativity, strategy, and attention to detail allows me to deliver work that feels polished, purposeful, and impactful.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Bluffton is the sense of community and connection. It’s a place where relationships still matter, and people genuinely support local businesses. Through networking and my involvement with the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, I’ve been able to build meaningful partnerships that have helped shape both my business and my presence in the area.

What I like least is that as quickly as Bluffton is growing, the mindset around event design hasn’t always grown at the same pace. There’s still a noticeable gap between basic décor and truly elevated, experience-driven design. That’s where my work comes in—through custom balloon installations, curated backdrops, and LED marquee displays, I focus on creating focal points that not only enhance the space but give guests something to engage with and remember.

Bluffton is evolving, and I see a lot of opportunity in helping shift that perspective—showing clients what’s possible when design is approached with intention, creativity, and a focus on the overall experience.
