Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Cripe.
Hi Heidi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Chapin Pup Club opened July of 2025. Aly’s dream has always been to work with animals. She fell in love with the pet industry after gaining experience in boarding, grooming as a vet tech. As the Chapin community has grown greatly over the past decade, the need for luxury dog boarding in the area became apparent. When we found a property for sale that could be turned into a dog boarding and daycare facility, we decided to take a leap of faith to turn her dream into a reality.
Now in our tenth month as the proud owner/operators of the Chapin Pup Club, we are blessed every day by the pups that we get to care for and their amazing pet parents. We just added on our second play yard for our boarding dogs to make sure they get the essential outside time they need as we continue to grow. We have added a director over our daycare who is a dog trainer and are getting ready to add training packages to our services.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggles came during the purchasing and zoning process and juggling timelines during the building phase. The wonderful people we worked with made it easier and met our goal of opening our doors in time for July 4th weekend.
We’ve been impressed with Chapin Pup Club, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Chapin Pup Club is a luxury dog boarding and daycare facility in Chapin, SC. We have a 41-suite boarding building with two play yards. We also have a large daycare building with its own play yard, so the pups have plenty of room to run and play no matter the weather. Dog training packages are a new service we are adding for our daycare pups.
We have all of our staff attain their Pack-Pro certification to ensure top notch care for all of our pups. We are also a Fear Free certified facility. All of these steps create a safe and loving environment where the pups and their parents can feel confident and comfortable during their stay.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We made connections by attending the Dog Boarding & Daycare Expo in Hershey PA last November. We took classes and talked to many experts in the pet care industry.
