Rising Stars: Meet Starr Fox of Mt. Pleasant, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Starr Fox.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been a hairdresser for 29 years. Traveled all around The country doing hair. I was interviewing for positions so that I could be home with my kids and not traveling and one of the interviews that happened upon was for a wig company. I was so intrigued with some thing I’d never done before and I wanted to be part of it. After years of working with women with hair loss and helping them get into beautiful natural looking hair (wigs) I wanted to understand why they were losing it so I started my Trichology path. Then in 2020 I moved to Charleston South Carolina and I Noticed that There was a big need for a place that People could go that were losing their hair. To get real solutions and honest answers. So I joined ageless, medical spa, and added the hair restoration.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think just the biggest struggle is there is not a one size fits all answer for hair loss. So people are coming to you for help and you don’t really know what’s gonna work for them I still honesty is always the best policy. We do use an AI camera that helps measure and track growth and progress so that we have real data to be able to support what we’re doing to help People see their progress. It’s a very vulnerable state that people are in. Nobody wants to sit in my chair because that means you’re losing your hair. Obviously with chemotherapy and things like that you’re meeting people at some of the worst times of their lives.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize a non-surgical hair restoration and hair replacement. I always tell people that are going into Wigs and Toppers. My job is to make sure noone knows you’re wearing hair. Everything we do for Hair restoration is scientifically proven so I’m proud to stand behind every treatment that we offer. We offer a comprehensive approach to hair loss. What set me apart from others is that comprehensive approach where we actually look for answers and track progress , not just sell you a treatment. I also am like a personal concierge for hair wears so our first appointment is just us getting to know each other and me asking all these questions so that I can get in the perfect piece for them so it’s not just wigs on the wall that they come in and pick one because Hair is so personal, and I don’t ever want anyone to settle. Every person deserves to feel like themselves and feel beautiful and show up in the world at their very best. I make it feel like a salon appointment. You don’t feel like you’re at a doctors office and it’s private. So it’s a private room , they can bring a guest or two if they’d like, but I pride myself on the empathy and care. I tell them that I’m there for the whole journey. I’m not just there to sell them some thing. We’re in it together. Everyone gets my cell phone number so if they have a problem , they can call me anytime losing your hair is never convenient so I’m not worried about it being convenient for me. After the purchase of hair, I bring them back about 3 to 4 weeks later and show them how to wash it and how to dry it and how to care for it that’s all included .

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m open to any of it. I love to collaborate.
