Meet Christie Nelson of Greenville, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Nelson.

Christie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t set out to start a business—I just loved creating things that helped people feel celebrated. What began as a simple creative outlet quickly grew when I saw how much joy something personal could bring to a special moment.
In the very beginning, it was my friends who really got things moving. They were out there doing the grassroots advertising for me—sharing my work, talking me up, and encouraging people to book. They believed in me before I fully believed in myself, and honestly, without them, I never would have gotten started.
As things grew, I realized this was about more than art—it was about helping people mark meaningful moments in a thoughtful, lasting way. That’s where Bushel Creations LLC truly took shape, built on creativity, reliability, and a genuine heart for serving others.
Today, I’m just incredibly grateful to do work I love while being part of people’s celebrations. It’s been a journey rooted in connection, trust, and a whole lot of support along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Surprisingly, it’s been pretty smooth. A majority of my clients are wonderful to work for and I have met a few new friends along the way. Nationwide there’s a network of rock painting artist that share tips, tricks and funny stories that I’ve gotten a lot of help from along the way. The roughest part was me not believing in myself. That’s why I’m incredibly thankful for my friends that pushed me so far out of my comfort zone.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I started in indoor murals in college. Recently, I’ve become more focused on painting spirit rocks at area schools to celebrate really any type of occasion whether it be a birthday or a prank on your best friend who’s housesitting while you’re on vacation ( that was a real one). I like to keep an open mind and joke that I will paint anything that stands still long enough… That mindset has let me paint some fun items. Most popular this spring has been custom basketballs for a local team award ceremony.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always loved being outdoors and having a sketchbook in hand. That were getting lost in a book. Now I get to make art outdoors it’s wonderful.
