Meet Twana McRae of Move with Coach T Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Twana McRae.

Hi Twana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My fitness journey began in 2018 when I made a personal decision to take control of my health and prioritize wellness in my own life. As I began to see changes not only physically but mentally and emotionally, I developed a passion for encouraging others to experience that same motivation, confidence, and strength.

MOVE with Coach T Fitness officially launched on Oct. 4, 2020. What started as a personal journey quickly turned into a mission to help others improve their health, build confidence, and create sustainable lifestyles through fitness and accountability. I understand the challenges people face because I’ve seen it from both sides-personally and within my family, My husband and my son both dealt with weight management challenges, and watching my son become dedicated to the gym and his health became one of my biggest inspirations. My daughter, Asia along with my mother, Barbara, and my entire family were incredibly supportive, and they all played a role in encouraging me to grow the business

Over time, MOVE with Coach T Fitness has grown into more than just workouts. It has become a platform focused on community, encouragement, accountability, and helping people become the best version of themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. Today, I continue to use fitness, community involvement, and encouragement to help others change their lives through movement and healthy living.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing a full-time career, family life, and building a fitness business at the same time. There were many early mornings, late nights, and moments where I questioned whether I could manage everything, but I stayed consistent and focused on my purpose.

Another challenge was building the business from the ground up and getting people to believe in the vision. Starting anything new requires patience, consistency, and faith especially when you are trying to grow a client base and build a brand. There were times when attendance was low, times when I had to invest in myself and the business before seeing a return, and times when I had to step outside my comfort zone to promote myself and the business.

Opening MOVE Gym was also a major step of faith and came with its own challenges and responsibilities, but it has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made. Every obstacle taught me something about persistence, leadership, and believing in yourself even when things are uncertain.

Overall, the journey has had challenges, but each challenge helped me grow not only as a business owner, but as a person and a leader in my community.

As you know, we’re big fans of Move with Coach T Fitness . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am both a banking professional and a business owner. I currently serve as a Vice President at First Citizens Bank, where I work with individuals and businesses to help them with financial goals, lending and financial education. I am very passionate about financial literacy and helping decisions that improve their future.

In addition to my banking career, I am the owner of MOVE with Coach T Fitness, where I focus on helping individuals improve their health through fitness, accountability, and lifestyle changes. I am also a fitness coach and a Zumba instructor, and I teach group fitness classes, cardio fitness classes, personal training and virtual workouts. My goal is to make fitness fun, welcoming, and accessible for people of all fitness levels.

What makes my journey unique is that I am passionate about helping people grow both physically and financially. Through my banking career, fitness business, and community involvement, I am able to help people improve their health, build confidence and make better financial decisions for their future,

I am most proud of the community that has been built through MOVE with Coach T Fitness. We have created an environment where people support each other, encourage each other, and grow together. My goal is to continue growing both professionally and as a business owner while making a positive impact in my community.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along my journey is to have grace with people and also have grace with yourself. Whether in banking, business, or fitness, you work with people from all walks of life, and everyone is at a different stage in their journey. I’ve learned to be patient, to encourage people where they are, and to understand that progress looks different for everyone.

I’ve also learned that growth never stops. You have to be willing to learn something new every day, step outside of your comfort zone, and continue growing both personally and professionally. Building a business, managing a career, and working with people has taught me leadership, patience, communication, and perseverance.

Overall, I’ve learned that consistency, faith, hard work, and treating people well will take you further than anything else. If you continue to show up, continue to learn, and continue to pour into others, success and growth will follow.
