Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantel Graham.
Hi Chantel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My background is in Tech working in User Experience (UX) and Content Design for major companies like Zillow and Home Depot. Essentially, my job was to design intuitive digital experiences for clients. Now, I’m taking those skills and my commitment to clarity, personalization, and high-quality experiences and applying them to a physical space. I’m excited to design an in-person, high-energy fitness experience right here in Northeast Columbia.
I started doing Pilates after I had my daughter, and I always felt there was an opportunity to elevate the experience—to make it more inclusive, clearer, and more fun. That drive to improve and deliver a superior service is what led me to franchising and ultimately, to Studio Pilates.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to learn how to be an entrepreneur, an instructor, and a construction foreman all in the same day. Securing the funding and managing the build-out was a massive challenge, but doing it while keeping my family life steady was the real test of my core strength. There were plenty of days where it felt like the obstacles were winning, but seeing the doors finally open made every stressful moment worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an alumna of Voorhees University and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I moved from Delaware to South Carolina in 2014 for college after receiving a full ride from my HBCU. That was my first time in the state, but South Carolina is where I met my husband and eventually started a family. Opening this studio in Columbia is about service and giving back to the community that shaped me both personally and professionally.
How do you define success?
We are making history! This is a major milestone as the first-ever Studio Pilates location in the entire state of South Carolina. I specifically chose Northeast Columbia because it’s one of the city’s most dynamic and rapidly growing corridors. This is where new families and professionals are choosing to live, and they deserve the best in fitness and wellness. This Studio Pilates location is designed to be a vibrant anchor for that expansion and growth.
