Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Malott.
Hi Paul, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t set out to start a company. I set out to solve problems that didn’t make sense to me.
For most of my career I worked inside large operational environments where incredibly smart people were still forced to run critical decisions through fragmented systems — spreadsheets passed around by email, disconnected software tools, manual approvals, and information that never quite reached the people who needed it in time. I became fascinated by the gap between what organizations were capable of and how they actually operated day to day.
That curiosity led me deep into automation, data systems, and eventually artificial intelligence. I started building workflows and decision frameworks that allowed teams to move faster and with more clarity. What began as small experiments quickly grew into something larger: designing systems that helped entire organizations operate more intelligently.
Over time I realized that most companies weren’t struggling because they lacked tools — they were struggling because their systems weren’t designed to make good decisions. Technology had been layered onto processes that were never built for the digital world. Automation alone wasn’t the answer. The real opportunity was redesigning how organizations move information, allocate resources, and make decisions.
That realization ultimately led me to found Automations24.
Automations24 is a boutique consulting firm focused on helping organizations embed AI directly into the architecture of how they operate. We work with leadership teams to design what we call AI-native operating environments — systems where data, automation, and human judgment are aligned so decisions can happen faster, with less friction, and with far greater visibility.
Instead of treating automation as a series of isolated projects, we approach it as infrastructure. We redesign workflows, procurement systems, supplier intelligence, and operational processes so that AI can augment how the organization actually runs. When done well, the results can be transformative — clearer decisions, reduced operational chaos, and teams that can scale without constantly fighting their own systems.
At the same time, we’ve been building technology that reflects where the world is heading. One of our projects, Pink Rhino, focuses on a problem most businesses haven’t fully recognized yet: as AI assistants replace traditional search, brands are losing visibility into how they appear inside AI-generated answers. Pink Rhino helps companies understand and influence how their brand is represented in this new AI-driven information layer.
For me, this work sits at the intersection of strategy, systems thinking, and emerging technology. I’m less interested in the hype around AI and more interested in how it can genuinely improve the way organizations function.
We are still very early in the shift toward AI-native businesses. Over the next decade, I believe the companies that thrive will be the ones that rethink how decisions are made and how information flows through their organizations.
Automations24 was built to help organizations make that transition — thoughtfully, practically, and with systems that actually work in the real world.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Starting a company—especially one focused on emerging technology—is rarely a smooth road. In many ways, the hardest part hasn’t been building the systems; it’s been helping people understand that a different way of operating is possible.
When I first started Automations24, AI and automation were often seen as experimental or niche. Many organizations were curious about the technology but unsure how to apply it in a practical way. A lot of early conversations involved helping leaders move beyond the idea of “trying an AI tool” and toward thinking about how their entire decision environment could evolve. That shift in mindset can take time.
Like many founders, I also experienced the reality that building something meaningful requires resilience. There are long stretches where you’re figuring things out without a playbook—refining the business model, learning which markets respond to your work, and adapting quickly when something doesn’t land the way you expected. Some ideas that seemed promising didn’t ultimately become the right strategic path, and part of the journey has been knowing when to pivot and when to double down.
Another challenge has been balancing vision with practicality. It’s easy to talk about the future of AI, but the real work happens inside organizations that still have legacy systems, human processes, and operational constraints. Our approach has always been to meet companies where they are and build systems that actually function in their environment, not just in theory.
At the same time, those challenges have been incredibly rewarding. Every obstacle has forced us to sharpen our thinking and clarify what Automations24 stands for. Over time we’ve built a strong foundation, incredible relationships with clients, and a team that genuinely believes in the work we’re doing.
Entrepreneurship has a way of testing your patience and conviction, but it also creates opportunities to build something that didn’t exist before. For me, that process—figuring things out, learning constantly, and helping organizations move into the next era of intelligent systems—has made the journey worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Automations24 is a boutique consulting firm focused on helping organizations redesign how they operate in the age of artificial intelligence. Our work centers on integrating AI and automation directly into the systems that drive decisions, operations, and resource management inside companies.
Many organizations today have powerful tools available to them, but those tools are often layered onto fragmented processes. The result is more complexity rather than clarity. At Automations24, we focus on solving that underlying problem. We work with leadership teams to redesign the architecture of their operations so data, workflows, suppliers, capital, and people move together in a coherent system.
Our specialty is what we call AI-native operating environments. Instead of simply deploying automation tools, we design operational systems where AI augments human judgment and helps organizations make faster, more informed decisions. This can involve procurement intelligence, workflow orchestration, decision frameworks, or building automated operational pipelines that allow teams to scale without increasing complexity.
One of the things that sets Automations24 apart is that our work is rooted in real operational experience. We approach automation as operators, not just technologists. The goal is never automation for its own sake—it’s better decisions, clearer visibility, and systems that allow organizations to move with greater confidence.
Alongside our consulting work, we’re also developing technology platforms that reflect where business is heading. One of our projects focuses on helping brands understand and influence how they appear within AI-generated answers—an emerging challenge as more people rely on AI assistants instead of traditional search engines.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the philosophy behind Automations24. We believe technology should simplify organizations, not complicate them. Our mission is to help companies transition from fragmented digital tools toward truly intelligent operating systems.
Ultimately, Automations24 exists to help organizations move into the next era of business—one where AI, automation, and human expertise work together to create smarter, more adaptive companies.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that might surprise people is that my interest in AI and automation didn’t start with technology—it started with curiosity about how systems behave.
I’ve always been fascinated by how complex systems work, whether that’s businesses, supply chains, or even natural systems. Long before starting Automations24, I spent a lot of time studying how decisions move through organizations and how small inefficiencies can compound into major operational friction. That systems thinking mindset is really what pulled me toward automation and eventually AI. Technology simply became the most powerful tool for improving those systems.
Another thing people may not realize is that much of my thinking happens away from a screen. Some of my best ideas come while walking, traveling, or having long conversations with people in completely different industries. I’ve found that stepping outside the day-to-day noise of technology helps you see patterns more clearly.
Professionally, people often see the strategic or technical side of what we do at Automations24, but at the core I’m really motivated by helping people do better work. If we can design systems that remove friction, reduce stress, and allow teams to focus on the decisions that actually matter, that’s where the real impact happens.
So while AI and automation are the tools, the deeper motivation has always been understanding systems and helping organizations operate in a way that feels more intelligent, more human, and ultimately more sustainable.
