Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Vinston of Ashslayy Hair and Body LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Vinston.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since high school, I’ve always wanted to have my own salon and natural hair care products. While in high school, I took cosmetology classes and ended up failing the Stateboard. After high school I went to college for Business Administration and soon after college ended, I went back to cosmetology school completed the courses and passed. I worked at a few salons, gained as much knowledge as possible, and met some great mentors along the way. I’ve worked in salons in Columbia, South Carolina, as well as Easton, Pennsylvania. From there I moved back to Columbia, South Carolina and decided I was no longer going to work for anyone but myself. I started working from my home and got my LLC license after building a clientele I purchased a home with my former wife and decided I can’t work out at the house anymore so I purchased a SALON SUITE and started running my business out of there. Since then, my business has grown drastically. I went from making a few hundred a week to over a thousand a week. I recently created a hair oil and I plan to grow a successful natural hair care line.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some struggles where moving for one state to another twice. Have to take the Stateboard 3 times. Once in high school, once in Columbia SC and once in Easton PA. Everytime I moved I had to start over building a clientele, which takes six months to a year if not longer. Becoming a traveling stylist between South Carolina and Pennsylvania. Financial struggles, building a business. Running a business on your own.

As you know, we’re big fans of Ashslayy Hair and Body LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
