Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Steele.
Hi Bria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Bria Steele; wife, and mother of 2. The earliest memory I have of taking pictures is from the age of about 11, I borrowed my mom’s digital camera and took it to school. I was always capturing the moments and wanting to take pictures of everything. So you could imagine my excitement when they came out with cell phones that had a camera on it- I started to really get into trying to capture moments in time that I would look back on and cherish. I went to college, went to sonography school- had 2 babies and was still dabbling in pictures now with a professional camera, but nothing serious yet. In the spring of 2025; I was still trying to figure out what purpose God had for me. I knew I wanted to help and serve others, it just seemed like every avenue I tried wasn’t working out or fulfilling like I thought it would. I prayed and gave it God to give me guidance. Then one day, as clear- I was supposed to be taking pictures; not through sonography but through photography. So I brought my camera out of retirement, and hosted Mother’s Day minis just to see what kind of interest I would get. Wouldn’t you believe, that there would people who showed up and supported me? From there, I started consistently pouring into social media platforms and my craft; it has been steady since and truly satisfying to my soul!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! It is very easy to get discouraged when comparison comes into play. You have ideas and visions on what you want and how things should play out- or certain photoshoots that you think will pull a lot of people and not many show up. Learning the camera and its controls were a challenge all by themselves! It takes a lot of patience and practice. Also, being comfortable in the uncomfortable. With photography, it really requires you to put yourself out there; and people want to know who their photographer is so then you have to show your face, your personality and become the face of your brand. It’s scary and new- I am naturally introverted so it was very nerve wracking to do (I know, yet I chose a profession that is with interacting with people) but that’s where God led me, and I see why. I meet so many beautiful people and their capture their stories.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do photography, and all kinds. I have done couples, families, maternity, individual creative shoots, birthday sessions, and seasonal sessions. I have not declared a specification yet but what I have done the most of is portrait photography- specifically, in-studio birthday sessions. Those are always so fun because thats when people show their personality the most and it translates on camera so well. I am most proud of being someone who people trust to provide them with a good experience. I try to be personable, relatable, and most times I find myself pouring into someone who I can see needed it- and it’s such a beautiful feeling to see someone blossom right in front of you. I believe that my session experience from beginning to end are whats set me apart. I make it my mission to make every single person feel confident, beautiful, important and loved.
How do you think about luck?
I dont believe that luck has played a part in my life or business, my faith and trust in God has. I wouldn’t be standing here today if it wasn’t for God’s grace and mercy over my life. He has brought me through some hard times; you ever have those moments where you just stand there and say; what am I even doing here? Why am I here? It’s the absence of purpose and lack of knowledge on what exactly you are supposed to be called to do. I spent many days and nights praying, asking for guidance and ordered steps so that whatever my next step would be- it would be in alignment with God’s will and that I would have the understanding of knowing where it is taking me. I am thankful that He makes no mistakes, and that I was able to see that the calling I stepped into was one that He had placed on me all my life. It is no coincidence that I was always taking pictures and capturing moments from an early age. That was God’s plan to show me look what you can do and look how people respond. It brings joy to others, and I am giving all of the credit to Him for allowing me to be able to serve others this way.
