Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Emberson.
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ashley and first and foremost I am the mom to two fun, energetic and smart young boys, Elijah and Ezra. They are the drive and inspiration for my business and also where the name “Sweet E’s” comes from!
I started my local business in February 2025 here in Murrells Inlet, SC. I have been baking for over a decade and decided to take a leap of faith and make it official with a licensed business. It’s been a blessing and so amazing to watch my business take off and flourish here in the local community and surrounding areas.
I grew up with the love of culinary, with my father who was a chef and who also had a background in food management. My mother always encouraged my love for art and my creative side. As a little girl, I always wanted to be an artist. I was able to blend my creativity with the love of baking and it’s become the recipe for Sweet E’s.
I love to create, bake and help others enjoy my home-made desserts and it’s also rewarding in bringing family members and the community together with a touch of sweetness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my business has been a smooth road for sure, but like any other venture in life, it requires alot of work, time and effort. I believe when you are doing what your calling is in life, the road is paved for you to excel and move forward.
There are many sleepless nights and early mornings with the mixers running and the ovens baking, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! All I need is some coffee and good music!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
After I graduated college, I moved on to have a background in program coordination in one of the greatest cities in the world – New York City. After my time in New York, I worked in event planning for the foreign service. The event planning career helping me bring people together in other countries and with that job, I was able to bake for expats who were “missing” a taste of home. It was in my time living overseas that I really was encouraged to start my baking business.
I’m most proud of learning how to adapt in different parts of the world, embrace the cultures and culinary sides of the places I’ve traveled, and use those experiences to adapt back to the US. I’m able to blend all of my work and life experiences to what I am doing now with my business.
My values, work ethic, experience of the culinary and art set me apart from the usual baker. I’ve traveled and lived in different cultures and countries and have a few life lessons to help with my calling to bring amazing dessert quality to your tables.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Hard work! You must work hard at what you want. I believe hard work is an investment and people see that. They know when you’ve put love into your work and in this case they can taste it too!
