Hi John, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor John C. McMahan has been spreading the gospel through singing, rapping & preaching since 2010. Pastor John C. McMahan has been leading Community Apostolic Church’s congregation since January 2024; becoming the Senior Pastor July 5th, 2024. He invites you to come be a part of our community and “Grow With Us!”
Pastor John C. McMahan has a passion for evangelism, meeting the needs & desires of the community near & far. Pastor McMahan is dedicated to fostering a Christian community rooted in the apostolic faith with great compassion for the people of Darlington, South Carolina.

Our church is a church for all people, reflecting the diversity of our community.
Our church is multicultural and multiracial, with members from various different backgrounds and economic statuses.
We are dedicated to reaching “whosever will” with the precious gospel of Jesus Christ. We trust that you will find a warm and friendly congregation of people when you walk through our doors.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We honestly thought that everything was going to be a smooth transition to becoming the Pastor. But, to my surprise everything was not smooth. The transition was very difficult! But glory be to God anyhow! We had to start completely over. But praise be to God that the Lord led us through it all. With the help of seasoned Elders that I trust with my life I was able to make the right decisions. Those decisions were not always easy ones, but best for the church moving forward.
We are now in compliance, with proper by-laws, articles of faith, proper operating processes & procedures. Along the way we did change the name of the church to Community Apostolic Church of Darlington, for a fresh start!
We started with only 7 people so financially it has been very difficult. But to God be the glory we are making it with the help of the Lord! We need finances so that we are able to do the things that we need to do to grow! We do need a church van or bus so that we are able to go into the community & pick up people that would like to come be a part of our services & be a part of this community of followers of Jesus Christ!

I have spread the gospel throughout the United States with music & the preaching of God’s word. I have sung & rapped different types of Christian & gospel music over the years. I recorded an album in 2010, called “just a man (remixed)”, by John C. McMahan streaming on all digital platforms; as well as, I released a single called, “The Greatest To Ever Live,” in 2023, with over 45,000 plays on Spotify.
I am the author of a book released on amazon called, “What Drives Us?” Motivation & Emotion released in 2022. What Drives Us, is a quick & easy read that has a five-star rating.
How do you define success?
I define success by knowing that I have done all I could do. And at the end of the day, I have peace in what I have accomplished.
