Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Parkkonen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have a photography studio in taylors. I started photographing as a child and have loved it ever since. My passion is photographing families and to capture real moments. I also enjoy photographing newborns and weddings, I find it a blessing that I am able to be there for some of lifes unforgettable moments. My goal is that when you look back at these photographs you remember the joy and love that you felt at that moment. Time is fleeting and I really do believe photographs help to capture time and remind us of those special times.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting your own business, has a lot of struggles along the way. When I first started I way over booked myself and was working almost 24/7. I also didn’t have a studio at first, so I would only go onlocation or do photos in my living room. I now have a studio off of main street in Taylors and I have a more set schedule and chose most of the days I work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love meeting people and getting them in front of my camera. I specialize in children photography and am known especially for my santa photos. I have been photographing santa for almost 18 years. most of my clients this year that visited me and santa, have came for mulitple years. I enjoy seeing the same families year after year. I am proud of creating a stress free enviorment , where you feel relaxed, comfortable waiting room, toys,etc.. for kids. so you can really show your true self in the photos and enjoy the time you are being photographed. I have photographed thousands of families throughout the upstate and really make sure the session isn’t over till we have gotten some great photographs. Even though you book a session based on time, I do not limit it to that. I make sure the moments you were wanting to capture were done successful.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I have 2/3 that work with me. I have a full time decorater/ creative designer who helps with all the photography set ups. I also try to have one of my assistants with me during a session to help it move faster and double check all details , hair, etc.. so not having to fix a lot in the editing part of it.
