Today we’d like to introduce you to Mattie Weingarten-Pardy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a born and raised Charlotte girl and did all of my higher education in Asheville before returning home to the Queen City. I started my career as a therapist doing what a lot of clinicians do early on — working hard, learning on the job, and trying to figure out how to do meaningful work without burning out. I loved the clinical work, but found myself struggling to balance my job with my personal life.
For a long time, I was completely solo in private practice. Then COVID hit, and the demand for therapy increased almost overnight. Clients were struggling in new and intense ways, and being a team of one started to feel especially lonely. That moment pushed me to take a leap I hadn’t originally planned. I hired my good friend Sarah Bishop — someone I’d known since college and grad school, and deeply trusted as a clinician and a person. What started as a practical response to an urgent need became the foundation of something much bigger. From there, we slowly and thoughtfully grew into a group practice, staying grounded in shared values, strong clinical work, and strong support for the therapists on our team.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like I’ve been spoiled with an abundance of good luck. My first move when I went solo 5 years ago was to hire a great biller to navigate the insurance landscape, and she will run through a brick wall to keep us profitable and thriving. Sarah has moved into a leadership role and an irreplaceable asset to the team. I’m sure it’s a risk to hire your close friend, but it’s easily the best decision I made in business and I couldn’t do it without her.
They set the tone, which created momentum for other great hires. Now I’m surrounded by a team of incredible therapists; they’re talented, hardworking and aligned with my mission. That’s not to say there aren’t some challenges here and there, but the journey has been overwhelmingly positive (and fun!).
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our practice is client-centered and values-driven. We treat a variety of mental health concerns from our offices in Charlotte, Boone and virtually throughout North and South Carolina and Florida. What sets us apart is our combination of accessibility, flexibility, and expertise. We try and remove as many barriers to good therapy as possible by offering hybrid appointments, being INN with most major insurance plans, and keeping our clinicians healthy and well-supported.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of our reputation for personalized, high-quality care delivered by a collaborative team of skilled therapists. We intentionally foster a culture that emphasizes both professional excellence and compassion, ensuring that every client experience reflects our commitment to truly unmatchable care.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
My husband and I are reality tv connoisseurs. We put our 2 young kids to bed, open our laptops, and watch Real Housewives of Salt Lake City or 1000 lb. Sisters while we work until one of us passes out. Sometimes we give prestige television a try, but we always end up back on House Hunters or 90 Day Fiancé. My all-time favorite is Gallery Girls circa 2013 (bring it back, Bravo!)
