Inspiring Conversations with Kenneth Pham of The Law Offices of Kenneth Pham, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Pham.

Hi Kenneth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born in Boston, raised in Charlotte, I grew with the instilled values of hard work and honest communication. As the eldest son of parents who were refugees of the Vietnam war, I recognized, at a young age, the significance of understanding and facilitating legal help to those in need.

While in College at North Carolina State University for a bachelor’s degree, I founded, among many other notable organizations, the fraternity of Pi Alpha Phi. The focus of this foundation was to promote racial awareness and address issues that many minorities were still facing today, such as certain medical ailments and biases in the society. I was also published as a journalist for the NC State Newspaper, The Technician, utilizing his skills to increase the visibility of issues to the readers.

I received his Juris Doctorate from a North Carolina Law School, graduating at number 17 of his class with full Pro Bono Honors. While in Law School, I interned for three years at Central Law Group, where he honed his skills of law. I also worked as a student attorney at the CSL Immigration Clinic; there he was able to facilitate the grant of the school’s first green card for a client, pro bono, and received school-wide recognition.

As a Vietnamese American, I am fluent in Vietnamese and in English.
Aside from his diligence in the practice of law, I enjoy working out, spending time with family, reading, cooking, and trying new cultural dishes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are many people that I thank to overcome the difficulties that can be found along the way. My parents have relocated from around the world to raise me and my brothers and provide foundations for our growth. Even entering with very little in their possessions, they still carried the teachings and values of our old-world and instilled them in me. Today, those generational values still provide wisdom in this line of work.

In the world of immigration law, there are many seasons, that come as quickly as the next election cycle. In each changing era, I’m thankful for the national communities of immigration at large, that of which I’m thankful for – personal mentors, judges, friends, and legal groups, all support each other through the immigration process to do right for the immigrant and community.

Finally, a last thank you to those closest to me and have given their time to help me be the person I am today – The monkhood that gave me ordainment and religion, the friends who share an ear to lament, strangers who give me trust and remind me of humanity, and my family to give me strength for continued empathy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
10 years, highest rated, immigration law, life passion, dedication to selection and focus on client’s, turn others away, proud of work that we do, passion motivation, to be part of someone’s story.

For more than a decade, we’ve been part of the South Carolina community, providing services in this area when people had to travel quite far for immigration support. Today, we are one of the highest rated single-lawyer immigration firms in the state. It’s been with the support of the local community, their trust, our experience in the field, and the outcomes we are able to provide for their satisfaction that has gotten us to this point today, and we will continue upon these values.

We are quite proud to be able to be so client focused; to be able to really meet people and give fight to their cause – many fight for family, opportunity, and hope, and our firm is passionate about bolstering them to heights that allow them to live a life as a fellow American. I get to argue for love in front of a skeptical government, and it brings me great pride to do it for work.

As a child of immigrants and the immigrant community, we’ve seen so many deceitful practices of “immigration specialists” that promise so much for a tall fee. Today, by opening my own firm, I’m able to ensure that there is a haven for guidance through the legal process that is not built on false promises and expectations. Admittedly so, we do not take every client, as we want there to be a good fit between firm and represented party – with cases taking years, our focus is on good results as I recognize that the mutual trust and standing relationship can effect the result, and I take pride in what we stand for and who we stand beside.

What does success mean to you?
I admit that my success is rooted in my relationship with Buddhism.

TV Lawyers would make you think of surprise “objections!” and smash cuts of high-rise conference rooms in the city that make the world seem so glamourous and success should emulate that.

Success, to me, is found in self-acknowledgment that your actions are improving the world but for a little. If you are able to move someone to their goals, it is not but for the countless tiny victories that get us there, each a small success snowball. If you are able to give someone peace, when they had less before you said hello, that is success. If you are able to be part of the human experience and take moment to notice of human experience, that is my success.
