Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicki Freeman.
Hi Nicki, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
During my high school years, I was always the friend who you called when you had a formal event, I was the girl for all your makeup needs. As the years passed, I realized that makeup necessarily wasn’t my passion but helping women feel beautiful and confident in the way they looked and felt about themselves was my passion. After a short period in the cooperate world, I decided to take the leap and become a licensed esthetician. With this career path it was evident that my calling in life wasn’t to only provide a safe space for clients to feel beautiful, safe, and supported in but to provide a space for other women within the beauty industry to come work alongside be and feel supported and confident in. One of my favorite things about being in this industry is seeing someone start new and watching them grow into successful businesswomen. Having a front row seat to someone else’s success is such a special experience. Indigo Beauty Collective was one an idea that came to fruition in 2020 when I found the perfect space in downtown Easley. Our business motto for Indigo is “a place where we celebrate the beauty of women”, and it has always been so important to me that each client, friend, or employee who walks through our doors feels this within our space.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
for any entrepreneur struggle is something we become very familiar with, it is never a matter of if there will be struggle but when there will be struggle, and how will you respond. As I mentioned opening a business from scratch in the middle of 2020, a covid year taught me so much about myself, about business and resilience. As well as within the beauty industry there is always going to be a higher turnover rate, this is normal part of business. My prayer within my walls is that The Lord will open the doors for who needs to be there and close the doors for who needs to go, I know Indigo may be a forever home to some and a steppingstone to others, I only can pray our impact is positive.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are an Upscale Day Spa, where specialize in esthetics including facials, treatments, lash extensions, brow lamination, waxing and shaping, full body waxing and body treatments. We also have a wonderful team of nail techs who offer gel nail services and art/design. We have some really awesome plans for 2026 to elevate our space while continuing to provide the best service.
We have an amazing group of very talented women who provide such quality service and bring immense care to the treatment room.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
oh gosh so growing up some of my most favorite childhood memories go back to when I was in middle school. Specifically, one time I purchased a horse without telling my parents until a few days later. Her name was Missy and she was the most stubborn animal, but man did she teach me a lot. I would go ride and get out to the pasture as often as I could. Missy and I were companions for many years.
