Today we’d like to introduce you to Phillip Beardslee.
Hi Phillip, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Upstate Office Cleaning — A New Standard of Clean
At Upstate Office Cleaning, we believe the difference between a cleaner and a partner is the level of care you feel when the job is done. Most cleaning companies focus on checking boxes — vacuum, wipe, mop, repeat. But we built Upstate to go beyond expectations. We’re not here to be another typical cleaning service; we’re here to raise the bar for what professional cleaning should be.
Our story began with a simple frustration: businesses deserve more than surface-level cleaning. They deserve a team that treats their workspace with the same pride and attention to detail they do. That’s why from day one, we made it our mission to deliver exceptional care, not just clean spaces.
Every client we serve experiences our Client-First Commitment — personalized service, consistent communication, and a proactive approach to cleanliness that helps businesses look their best and run smoothly. Whether it’s a small office or a large facility, we focus on creating spaces that inspire productivity, trust, and pride.
Our team is trained not just to clean, but to notice — to care about the details that others overlook. From our reliability and professionalism to our hospitality-driven service model, we’re redefining what it means to be in the cleaning business.
Because at Upstate Office Cleaning, we’re not just cleaning offices.
We’re helping businesses shine brighter, work better, and feel cared for.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been fairly smooth, and we have God and my dad to thank for that. My dad has been in the cleaning industry for 25+ years based in Michigan so when I get into something I don’t understand many times I am asking how he did things or how he went about things.
We’ve also been intentional about taking things slowly and seeking wisdom rather than rushing to scale. If God wants the business to grow it will without me. Instead of pushing for rapid growth like many businesses do, we’ve focused on faithfulness, stewardship, and obedience—trusting God with the timing.
That said, the main challenges have been resisting the pressure to move faster than God’s pace and choosing patience over comparison. In a culture that celebrates quick success, it can be tempting to rush ahead, but Scripture reminds us that “the plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance” (Proverbs 21:5). Waiting, praying, and discerning next steps hasn’t always been easy, but it has brought peace and clarity.
Overall, by leaning into prayer, wise counsel, and steady progress, the journey has been marked more by grace than struggle—and we believe that taking it slow has allowed a stronger, God-honoring foundation to be built.
We’ve been impressed with Upstate Office Cleaning, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Upstate Office Cleaning exists to serve. We believe our work is ultimately an act of stewardship—caring for the spaces where people work, create, and lead every day. From a biblical perspective, we aim to “work willingly at whatever we do, as though working for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23). Our goal is not just clean offices, but environments that promote health, excellence, and peace.
What do you do, and what do you specialize in / what are you known for?
We specialize in professional office and commercial cleaning throughout the Upstate. We are known for consistency, reliability, and attention to detail. Our team focuses on maintaining clean, sanitized, and well-kept workplaces so businesses can focus on what they do best without worrying about their facilities.
What sets you apart from others?
What truly sets us apart is our heart for service and integrity. We don’t view clients as contracts, but as partners we’re called to serve well. We prioritize honest communication, dependable schedules, and quality work done with excellence—even when no one is watching. We believe trust is earned through faithfulness over time.
What are you most proud of brand wise?
We’re most proud of the reputation we’re building for trust, humility, and consistency. Knowing that clients feel confident leaving their spaces in our care is something we don’t take lightly. Our brand reflects our values—faith-driven work, servant leadership, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, and services?
We want readers to know that Upstate Office Cleaning is more than a cleaning company—we’re a service-minded team committed to excellence and integrity. Whether it’s daily office cleaning, routine maintenance, or customized service plans, we approach every job with care, prayerful intention, and professionalism. Our desire is to honor God through our work by serving businesses well and creating clean spaces where people can thrive.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Always seek mentorship and be willing to learn from young and old. The moment you think you have arrived or you can’t learn anything else is not a good place to be. Stay Humble. Pray Often. Seek Wisdom. Scripture actually reminds us that “plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed” (Proverbs 20:18). Begin by asking God to lead you to the right people, trusting that He places mentors in our lives at the right time and season.
What has worked well is serving first rather than seeking status. Many meaningful mentoring relationships grow naturally when you show faithfulness, teachability, and a genuine desire to learn. Being consistent, asking thoughtful questions, and applying what you’re taught builds trust over time. The Bible also encourages us to “walk with the wise and become wise” (Proverbs 13:20), so intentionally spending time in environments where wise, godly leaders gather—church, community groups, or professional circles—can open doors organically.
We should never be about promoting ourselves but about building others up first. We believe when you do that then the rest falls into place. When your desire is to learn, support, and add value, God often uses those connections in ways beyond what you expect and blesses you in return.
