Daily Inspiration: Meet Scott Dulebohn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Dulebohn.

Hi Scott, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Scott Dulebohn, and I proudly served in the United States Air Force from 2005 to 2010. During my service, I sustained a back injury that ultimately led to a medical retirement in 2010. After leaving the Air Force, I worked at Packs River, where I handled filing and other essential office responsibilities.

In 2017, I began working at a fire station on Camp Lejeune. Unfortunately, in 2019, I suffered another back injury that required surgery. Following that experience, my wife and I made the decision to relocate our family to Little River, South Carolina, to begin a new chapter.

Looking for purpose and a way to stay engaged, I visited the VA, where I was introduced to the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center (VWHRC). I met with Ron Wilson, who was leading the organization at the time and shared his plans to retire and travel. After many conversations and prayerful consideration, my wife and I decided this was a calling we could not ignore. In March of 2021, I became the Director of VWHRC.

Over the past several years, VWHRC has received millions of dollars in donations, allowing us to develop our Tiny Home Village, provide financial assistance to countless veterans, and offer food and clothing through our thrift store and resource center. My family and I have been truly blessed to meet and serve so many veterans along this journey.

As I often say, “There should be no homeless veterans—so let’s end this.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, this road has not been smooth. We have faced many challenges along the way, from delays in the development of the Tiny Home Village to ongoing struggles with recruiting and retaining volunteers for special events and daily operations. Like many nonprofits, we have had to adapt constantly to changing circumstances and unexpected obstacles.

On a personal level, there were moments when I had to step back temporarily to help my father through serious medical issues. Even during those times, the mission never stopped. The team at VWHRC always found a way to push forward and ensure that our veterans continued to receive the support they needed.

Through every setback, one thing has remained constant—our commitment to serving veterans. No matter the challenge, we find a way to overcome it and continue fulfilling our mission.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In my professional life and career, service has always been the common thread. From my time in the United States Air Force to my work in civilian roles and ultimately nonprofit leadership, my focus has consistently been on helping others and staying mission-driven.

After being medically retired from the Air Force, I gained experience in administrative and operational roles, followed by public service work at a fire station on Camp Lejeune. Those positions taught me discipline, organization, teamwork, and the importance of serving a community with integrity.

When I stepped into leadership at the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center, my career came full circle. As Director, I oversee programs focused on housing, financial assistance, food security, and reintegration for veterans. Leading VWHRC has been the most meaningful chapter of my career, allowing me to combine my professional experience with my personal commitment to ensuring that no veteran is left without support, stability, or hope.
