Today we’d like to introduce you to Sterling Savage.
Sterling, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Previously I was an educator and mentor for 13 years before transitioning into the life insurance industry. I originally went into the financial services industry via life insurance as a way to increase my income as I had just proposed to my now wife and needed to make more money. It was a journey navigating this industry but I absolutely love it. I’m now able to continue teaching and helping people just in a different industry and in a different way. I currently now have my own agency and have been in the business for 3 years which is a milestone as only 8% of agents make it to year 3. I also have a huge heart for kids, parents and the community, so through my consulting company Ready, Set, Educate LLC we are a community partner with local non-profits, churches, and organizations to give presentations educating the community on the different types of life insurance, how it works and how it can be used to set our families up for success now and in the future. I also have a mentorship program that helps young adults learn how to become a remote life insurance agent, and own their own agency(business) if that’s what they would like to do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not it has not been a smooth road, but growth and life never is right? Some struggles I faced were inconsistent cash flow from month to month, struggling to get and keep clients at times, and finding the right company and mentor to really set you up for success to thrive. However I am truly grateful for the struggles as they molded me and shaped me into who I am today. I took them as life lessons and were able to turn that pain into purpose.

I think I’m most proud of the way I am building this agency and how I’m running it both on the client and agent side of things. We are different, unlike any other agency in the industry. I have no problem walking away from a sale and everyone is not my client.
So if I have to sacrifice some money in the beginning and put in more time on the front end I’m ok with that because I want my Agency to stand for something. This is bigger than just policies and commissions. It’s about changing the world, one person at a time, one policy at a time.
We don’t sell policies to people: We educate, empower, and protect families so they’re ready when tragedy happens. We also don’t beg people, pester them, or force them to make a decision. It’s not our job to convince you to get a policy. We are financial professionals who are highly educated and knowledgeable not only about products but about the financial services industry. We also have an extensive network of colleagues to connect with for other services such as: Wills, trusts, legacy planning etc.

I have been a guest speaker at the College of Charleston School of Business previously and have a partnership with the Humanities Foundation non profit as well.
