Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam And Torrey Roberts.
Hi Adam and Torrey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We have both had a camera in our hands since high school and love creating art together. Photography has always been something we have enjoyed together whether it be personally or professionally. After we got married ( a long time ago) we worked in the mental health field but always felt the draw to create art full time. When our son was born I ( Adam) decided to go for it and became fully invested in the wedding industry in the Miami – Fort Lauderdale area doing both photography and video with another amazing photographer. It was awesome and afforded me the opportunity to travel around the country and internationally for weddings. Super crazy but super fun! Torrey and I still had our Rosewood company but I was busy traveling and she was busy with the babies. Then the magical year 2020 happened and covid made it necessary for a pivot. We started reaching out to small businesses and schools to help them create a better online presence and better brand consistency. It was a lot of fun getting to create together. We had a business from Myrtle Beach reach out to us for content, so we took a road trip here in 2021 and just sort of never left! Together we have been able to branch out into more areas of photography and video and love being able to create experiences for our clients while telling stories. Both of our sons now work with us so every photograph or video we create not only becomes an experience for our client but a memory for our family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! Uprooting our family and moving to Myrtle Beach has been amazing but basically starting our business over from scratch in a new location has been a challenge! Having to go through the process of reestablishing who we are and what makes us different has been a little harder than we were anticipating. It can also be tricky working so closely with your spouse trying to mix the business side with the creative side with the family side. We both have very different takes on things ( and are both very strongwilled) so sometimes the very thing that makes us awesome and different is the hardest. Just don’t tell Torrey I said that!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We love creating experiences with all types of photography and video. From the first consultation or inquiry, our clients become like family. We aren’t just providing a service, we are creating an experience and making art not for our clients but with them. We tend to do lots of family photography in addition to weddings as usually our wedding clients allow us to become part of their family. Since moving to Myrtle Beach I (Adam) have started working more in the studio and love providing headshots and branding for actors and musicians. We believe that no matter what we are photographing, the experience is just as important as the product. We have found this to be so important especially with clients like high school seniors. We want them to feel like rockstars! Their photographs are gonna rock but their experience is what they are going to remember and talk about! Whether it be for weddings, families, businesses, actors, musicians or anything in between….each experience is as unique as your story. We love being a part of telling your story!
What does success mean to you?
Well we all need to make money to survive but success for us is not about how profitable we are. We truly feel successful when we can provide an experience to our clients that will become a core memory. Not only will they hold their photographs as a tangible representation of the art created but they will have the memories of the experience and the knowledge that they helped create that art. Every photograph we make is an artistic collaboration not merely a service provided. If we can provide that then we have been successful at adding a value above and beyond the great photographs recieved.
