Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Little.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Several years ago, the company I worked for volunteered at the Indie Craft Parade, which is how I first connected with the Makers Collective. During that time, I also became friends with Jennifer — we worked together at that same company before either of us got involved with the pop-up shop. My relationship with the Makers Collective eventually led me to working part-time at their seasonal pop-up, and Jennifer joined in as well. When the three founders decided to close the shop, Jennifer and I couldn’t stand the thought of such a special place disappearing, especially one that gave the community a direct way to support local makers. So we stepped in and took it over ourselves. Now we’re in the middle of our second seasonal pop-up, and we’re so happy to continue the legacy the Makers Collective started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve definitely hit a few bumps along the way as we opened our shop. Thankfully, Jen, Lib, and Erin — the previous shop owners — have been incredibly supportive. Whenever we’ve needed guidance or a little extra help, they’ve stepped in without hesitation, and that’s made all the difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Jennifer and I own The Trove, a seasonal pop-up shop dedicated to showcasing handmade goods and items from small businesses. Everything we carry comes directly from makers or small businesses and that direct maker-to-community connection is really what sets us apart. We’re proud to be a place where people can discover unique, thoughtfully made products while also supporting the artists and small businesses behind them.
