Life & Work with Seveidra Theodore of Greenwood, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seveidra Theodore.

Hi Seveidra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I guess I’m what you would call a serial entrepreneur, a few of my hats are Project Specialist in the banking industry, South Carolina Notary, Tax Preparer, Licensed Insurance Agent, and most recently a Licensed Nail Technician. I’ve alway been a person that once I completed one goal I was ready to move to the next and thus the hats accumulated.

My newest venture VeeLux Nails started as just being a nail girlie and trying to mend own my nail sets if something went wrong in between my monthly appointments. I then began to ask my nail tech at the time A LOT of questions and she happily answered any and everything which peaked my interested in possibly learning how to do them myself. Being a more analytical person and not such much of an artist I felt like the best course for me was to enroll in nail school so I found a program I could do in the evenings and the rest took off from there.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! not in the least bit! Life has a way of showing you that you can’t get stuck on one track and when things pop up you have to be comfortable re-routing your plans. I’ve had goals that have taken me longer, I’ve had opportunities I should have taken but didn’t, I’ve quit college classes before, and many other blows that life has thrown.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At VeeLux nails I specialize in acrylics, dip power, polygel, hard gel, and natural nail care with manicures and pedicures. I enjoy creating looks that my clients and I put together (we work as a team) and creating a comforting environment. I would say that I’m most proud of my resilience to learn. The beauty industry, I’m learning is competitive and trends are constantly changing so practice makes perfect. My cleanliness, sanitation and work ethic I believe it what sets me apart. When you leave my chair I want you to be satisfied and if you’re not I’m more than open to you telling me and we fix it!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
It’s home and welcoming. I grew up here so I know a lot of people and yet I meet new people all the time. I just wish there was more to do activity wise.
