Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Mozell.
Hi Elizabeth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up with a father who had a janitorial business cleaning restaurant like Outback Steakhouse on Rivers Ave, to my father opening a bail bonding business. My mom support him and eventually would start a private duty care taking business as she was a CNA.
My parents had a love for health and wellness. Taught us how to use the gym as an outlet and to be mindful about what one consume. As my parents became older my mom would be diagnosed with cancer and my dad had spinal injuries.. It through change in my mom diet she had higher energy levels. My father was at his happiest at the gym.
Fast forward I would study culinary arts receiving BS degree, obtain a certificate as a personal trainer, and worked 5 1)2 years at a hospital studying clinical health and nutrition.
I would eventually open Alpha Fitt doing vendor speaking events. And envision a brick and mortar. While working on Alpha Fitt I rediscovered my passion for writing I got from my mom. I then became a first time mom in 2017.
Becoming a mom motivated me in away I don’t know how to explain it. I looked at my daughter and said oh yes, you’re going to be expensive. I finished my book. I Have Faith I Have Works and published it July 27, 2018.
Gratification was short lived as I would lose my of at the hospital and become a single mother of two. No one believed in my vision family and friends laughed. Life became hard. But I never stop working towards the vision. Then COVID the government shut down occurred. A locally own gym was being sold and I was in to purchase the gym. I obtain a mentor through SCORE. I was told not to go through with because the own didn’t want the bills on his hands of the building due to the shutdown and no one knew how long life would remain like that..
Lesson: never make a decision out of emotion or when you are emotional..
As restructure Alpha Fitt I thought about creating an on demand platform. And alphafitt.com was born..
As the government shut down ended I started back doing wellness events, book signings, and speaking events. But as before Victory was short lived I lost both of my parents in 2921 and became homeless in 2022 for 6 months as a single mom with two kids.
The vision stop rather paused. I had a job and was randomly stop and asked by the director of head start if I wanted a job. Well I did and I’m for ever grateful. I had an organization help me obtain the apartment. Yes, I had to meet all the requirements making 2.5 to 3 times the rent..
Life seem great again. My kids told me mo. We want to do what you do. We want to write book..So with my bonuses from work and living below my means I invested in my kids becoming authors.
Coach Liz was born as the marketer, mom manager, and assistant to the Ashley and Arrie brand..
I switch my focus from only alphafitt.com to building generational wealth.. together we started booking events and being ask to make special guests appearance.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With all the obstacles I.mention that life handed me.
Some business struggles was how to obtain a team without funding or ability to pay.
I connected and barter with college students, use SCORE, used social media to connect me with the right people.
Heading No. The word one is hard to hear. It’s can discouraging.. But view no as not a No. But Not right Now..
If you feel you need to learn more to keep up with the trends. Like with me I needed to learn marketing. I didn’t have much money as a single mom. Understand some schools offer courses for free, take the audit classes, or purchase a course using your tax money..
I had to endure people assuming I used my kids to obtain income. I had to listen to be say what I can and can’t afford. I had people say do I think my kids like doing events. I noticed jealous from people in the market place, and so called friends who gave up on their dreams. It hurt but I remember my why. I want to encourage and be the inspiration to the single parent that no matter what trust God, the process, use your kids to motivate you. I also am the one to build wealth to help those in situations I endure.
The five year rule. If your business isn’t operational in 5 years then you need to stop it. I faced a lot of obstacles and it was the fifth year I seen progress and results..
