Meet Giacomo Campus of Sole Espresso Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giacomo Campus.

Hi Giacomo , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Milan, Italy. Tennis took me around the world for many years, and eventually I decided to continue my journey in the United States. After spending a couple of years in Florida, I chose to pursue a college degree in Professional Biology.
Alongside academics, I always carried a deep passion for hospitality and real estate. What I missed most from home was the unmistakable Italian atmosphere—the coffee, the culture, and of course, the food. That feeling inspired my wife, Hannah, and I to take a leap and start a coffee business with a mobile cart.
After nearly a year of operating part-time on weekends, we found an empty shell unit in District Midtown. The space had nothing in it, so we had to build everything from the ground up. It was a long, challenging journey, but completely worth it. We designed and built the interior ourselves, transforming an empty space into something we are truly proud of.
Now, six months after opening, we look back with pride at how far we’ve come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth process. Between the construction permits, electrical and plumbing work, and all the licensing, it was a long and stressful ride. But we kept a good attitude, stayed motivated, and in the end everything came together.

As you know, we’re big fans of Sole Espresso Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sole Espresso Bar is an authentic Italian coffee bar committed to delivering a true taste of Italy. We take pride in offering a refined selection of traditional Italian beverages, pastries, and specialty retail items.
Most of what we use—our beans, sugar, even our napkins is imported straight from Italy, so everything feels as authentic as possible. Our retail shelf is always stocked with seasonal Italian cookies, chocolates, candies, and other goodies from overseas.
For pastries, we team up with local bakeries that drop off fresh treats every morning, just like you’d find back home in Italy.
At Sole Espresso Bar, we want you to feel like you are in Italy. We want you to seat, relax and enjoy life.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Greenville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Working in real estate and been in here for the past 8 years, I’ve seen the growth and I’m really happy with the way the city is developing. The only thing that the city needs to improve are infrastructures since we have much more volume than ever. Overall, it’s a great place to live and to start a business!
