Meet Cory Anderson of The Tech Spot

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Anderson.

Hi Cory, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I launched my first business, SolutionsIT, in 2013 at just 18 years old. As a self-taught IT professional with a passion that began in childhood, I spent my high school years assisting with on-campus technology needs and immediately entered the IT field after graduation. SolutionsIT began as a residential and commercial IT consulting company specializing in computers, networking, servers, printers, and full-scale technology support. Today, I have more than 16 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry.

At the age of 18, I also learned that I would soon become a father. My son, Jase Anderson—now 12 years old—was diagnosed with Down Syndrome during the pregnancy. That moment changed my life and ignited a deep determination to build something stable, meaningful, and long-lasting for his future as a man and as his Father. Not knowing what challenges he might face, I committed myself to creating a business that would provide emotional, physical, and financial security for him throughout his life.

Over the years, my work has earned a strong and trusted reputation within the Greenwood community. Exceptional customer service and deep technical knowledge have always been the foundation of my business. In 2018, I welcomed my second son, Micah Anderson, who is now 7. Both of my boys have grown up around technology, and—unsurprisingly—are already showing impressive tech skills at a young age.

In 2020, I expanded my services by opening The Tech Spot, a 3,200 sq. ft. retail and repair center offering cellphone, tablet, and gaming console repair, along with device sales, accessories, and continued IT consulting. As the business grew, I merged SolutionsIT and The Tech Spot into one unified location to better serve the community and accommodate our growing team. The Tech Spot, located in the Kohl’s Plaza at 205 Hospitality Blvd in Greenwood, has now proudly served the area for five years. We continue to specialize in both residential and commercial repair, consulting, and full-service technology solutions—with plans to expand into additional South Carolina cities.

Greenwood has always been my home, and the support this community has shown my family and businesses over the years is something I am deeply grateful for. In return, my family and I strive to give back as much as possible. We donate consistently to multiple charitable organizations in Greenwood and surrounding counties and sponsor several families each holiday season. Our success is directly tied to the trust, loyalty, and encouragement of our community—and we never take that for granted. We would not be where we are today without them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thanks to the Greenwood community our success has been smooth.
We faced some hardship with health issues from my son Jase but we were able to overcome them with the support of our family and the Greenwood Community
