Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Blumer.
Hi Jason, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Jason M. Blumer, CPA is the CEO of Blumer & Associates, CPAs. The firm was one of the first to move from a traditional office to a virtual environment in 2012, where they serve as an advisory firm for the entrepreneurs. Jason focus on business consulting and coaching with the owners and business leaders while the team meets the technical and financial needs of the customer.
Jason is also founded Thriveal in 2010 as a way to help entrepreneurial CPA firm owners connect, learn, and grow. He serves as the CEO of Thriveal. Thriveal has helped many firms grow by providing a community, coaching services, webinars, firm consulting, monthly growth groups, and live events for firm entrepreneurs from all over the world.
He has been honored as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting (Accounting Today) and speaks and writes globally as a sought after speaker and thought leader.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. As with any entrepreneurial journey, we go through seasons…some of harvest and some of drought, but ultimately, we make the choice to keep going each day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Blumer & Associates, CPAs, we’ve always believed that entrepreneurs deserve more than traditional accounting services — they deserve a partner who understands how complex, creative, and sometimes lonely building a business can be. Our firm was one of the first in the accounting profession to move fully virtual back in 2012, and that shift wasn’t just about technology. It allowed us to rethink what an advisory firm could be.
Today, we specialize in working closely with business owners and leaders on the consulting, strategic, and operational challenges that come with growth. While our team handles the technical and financial needs of our clients, my personal focus is on coaching and advising leaders so they can make better decisions, build stronger teams, and run healthier companies. That’s the work we’ve become known for — pairing deep expertise with a relationship-driven, high-touch experience.
I also founded Thriveal, a global community for entrepreneurial CPA firm owners. Thriveal exists to help firm leaders connect, learn, and transform their companies through coaching, education, events, and peer groups. Seeing that community impact firms all over the world continues to be one of the things I’m most proud of.
If there’s one thing I’d want your readers to know about our brands, it’s that we’re committed to growth — not just financial growth, but the kind that changes people. Whether we’re serving entrepreneurs directly through the firm or supporting other CPA firm owners through Thriveal, our goal is to help leaders build businesses that reflect their values, support their lives, and create meaningful impact. That’s the work that drives us every day.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
If I had to narrow it down to one quality, it would be the willingness to embrace change — even when it’s uncomfortable. Both of my companies were built on the belief that progress requires experimentation, curiosity, and the courage to question long-held assumptions. Moving our firm fully virtual back in 2012 is a great example. At the time, it wasn’t common in our profession, but we knew it would allow us to serve clients more effectively and create a healthier environment for our team.
That mindset of constant learning and adaptation has shaped how I lead. It’s helped me stay open to new ideas, surround myself with people who think differently than I do, and build organizations that can evolve as our clients evolve.
I’ve also learned that embracing change goes hand-in-hand with trusting people — giving talented team members space to do their best work. When you pair those two qualities together, you can grow companies that are resilient, innovative, and genuinely impactful.
