Inspiring Conversations with Kevin Boyd of Ready Mobile Detailing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Boyd.

Hi Kevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in IT through a paid externship that turned into a full-time role, and I spent over five years developing strong technical and problem-solving skills. When COVID shifted everything to remote work, it gave me time to reflect, and I realized I wanted to build something of my own—something rooted in service, trust, and real connection.

In 2023, my company suddenly laid off half of our IT staff. Instead of letting that setback define me, I used it as the push I needed. After talking with friends who ran their own businesses, I finally took the leap and committed fully to starting my detailing company.

Since then, I’ve focused on quality, consistency, and treating every customer’s car like my own. By 2025, I’ve built steady contracts, strong repeat business, and a reputation for being reliable, detail-focused, and fair with pricing. The goal has always been simple: add value to the community and offer a service people can trust.

The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s made me a stronger entrepreneur. I’m grateful for the support I’ve had along the way, and I’m excited to keep growing and setting a high standard for detailing in our area.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I found myself well-maintaining cars spotlessly and the work itself became a surprising source of stress relief for me especially during a difficult period in my personal life.

But turning something you’re good at into a full-time business is a completely different challenge. One of the biggest hurdles early on was the financial uncertainty. Unlike a traditional 9–5 job, my income suddenly depended on weather, season, and demand. Learning to navigate slow periods, plan ahead, and trust the process was a real test.

There were moments when I questioned myself, but the struggles ended up shaping me. They forced me to become more disciplined, more resourceful, and more intentional about how I serve my customers. And each challenge—whether personal or financial—helped me build the resilience I rely on today as a business owner.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ready Mobile Detailing?
My business is a fully mobile detailing service for cars, trucks, and vans across the tri-county area. What sets us apart is our philosophy of preservation over perfection. Anyone can make a vehicle look flawless, but doing it the wrong way can damage paint or interiors long-term. We focus on the least aggressive methods first to safely remove defects, stains, pet hair, tough water spots, and even more challenging messes like vomit or pet accidents—protecting the vehicle’s value instead of just masking issues.

We serve both everyday drivers and businesses. From rental car companies to construction fleets, hotel vans, or any type of work vehicle, we offer flexible services and monthly maintenance plans to keep vehicles clean, presentable, and well-maintained.

We also make it easy for customers to schedule online, keeping our pricing competitive so high-quality care is accessible to everyone. At the end of the day, our goal is simple: provide honest, thorough, and reliable service that keeps vehicles looking great and preserves their value—no matter the size of the vehicle or the mess it faces.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the mobile detailing industry growing not just because of convenience, but because people are prioritizing time and well-being over chores. More clients want to spend time with friends and family, enjoy experiences, or focus on their health, rather than spend hours cleaning their car.

Mobile detailing allows people to protect their vehicle’s value without sacrificing their time or physical well-being—especially for those with medical conditions or mobility challenges. I think this focus on time, convenience, and long-term care will continue to shape the industry, with services that make life easier and more enjoyable for everyone.
