Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in the insurance industry. My parents owned an Allstate Insurance Agency, but I initially had no plans to follow in their footsteps. My career began in marketing partnerships, first with Disney Sports for 10 years and then with an NBA team. After that, I transitioned into the investment industry, spending seven years at The Vanguard Group, where I earned my CFP® certification. I later became an Investment Counselor at Fisher Investments, just before the pandemic began.
Like many people, the pandemic prompted me to reevaluate my priorities. After two years in Dallas, TX, I decided it was time to move closer to family, so I returned to Greenville, SC and began a new chapter as a small business owner, helping people navigate their health insurance options with HealthMarkets.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a journey of slow but steady growth. During the first couple of years, I often second-guessed whether going out on my own had been the right decision. Over time, however, my loyal clients and their referrals have helped my business grow year after year. The biggest challenge has been finding quality leads without the benefit of a large marketing budget, but that’s also pushed me to be more creative and intentional in how I build relationships and reach new clients.
