Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Gregory.
Hi Tom, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up around photography. My uncle was a professional photographer, and I was the kid that always had a camera in my hand. I took a long journey going down the road “I was supposed to go down” even picking up an MA along the way. After 12yrs in a job that nearly took all my joy, I decided to make the big leap and dive full time in following my artist’s heart. Being a professional photographer was the perfect fit, not only for my passion, but also my love of business. Every day is an adventure, and I’m always excited to see where the road leads to next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been easy. A huge part of the journey has been understanding what made me unique in an ocean of other photographers. It’s a lot like Hollywood. It’s not enough to just have a good voice, you have to STAND OUT from the pack, and that is a process of continually refining and shaping my craft and vision, as well as my business model.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer who specializes in retro styled pinup. Vintage clothing, victory rolls and red lipstick are my jam. My photo sessions offer women an experience that transports them back in time, and lets them feel like a Silver Screen Icon. My superpower is making women feel seen and beautiful, and pinup is an immersive, inclusive experience that gives any woman a passport to a world of glamour. Whether you’re 17 or 77, I’ll make you feel like Marilyn Monroe. Pinup isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being YOU. Your personality sets the tone and I make sure my lens captures you in all your glory. In her gut wrenching hit “Young and Beautiful” Lana Del Rey asks the question, “Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me when all I have is my aching soul?” Every woman, at one time or another, asks herself the question, “Do I still have IT?” Ladies, you still have it, and I’ll provide the photographic evidence.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
All my life I’ve been a story teller, and that has taken different forms. In the early 2000’s I performed in a band and made a pretty decent living doing it. I sing, play guitar and piano and I’m a songwriter. Ultimately, I outgrew the late nights and lugging my equipment all over creation.
