Meet Roslyn Kay Parker of Roslyn Kay Parker Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roslyn Kay Parker.

Roslyn Kay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Roslyn “Roz” Kay Parker, and real estate for me is more than a profession—it’s a calling. Over the years, the principles I learned growing up in a U.S. Naval family—discipline, commitment, service—have become the foundation of how I lead my work and serve my clients.

From a young age, I saw firsthand how moves and transitions mean more than changing addresses—they represent lives, dreams, new beginnings. That early exposure instilled in me a deep respect for the significance of “home.”

When I entered the real estate industry, I was driven by a vision: to be more than “an agent” but a true advocate for clients. I set out to deliver exceptional service, to understand people’s deepest needs, and to help them find not just a house—but a “forever home.”

In the Charleston area, I’ve had the privilege of building a reputation based on integrity, tenacity, and results. I don’t wait for opportunities to come—I create them.

Whether negotiating a listing, crafting marketing strategies, or guiding buyers through complex processes, I lean into the details and fight for my clients as I’d fight for my own family.

Over the years, I’ve earned recognition for that dedication—awards like Coldwell Banker’s International President’s Elite, Charleston REALTORS® of Distinction, Platinum Circle, and designation as a Certified Luxury Property Specialist.

But awards are just markers. The real reward is in seeing clients’ faces when they step into their new home, or when their property sells above expectations.

Behind me is a strong support system: I’m married to a former U.S. Marine and eCommerce consultant, and we’ve built a wonderful family life here in Charleston. That stability gives me the emotional bandwidth to go hard for my clients.

Today, as a Broker Associate affiliated with Compass, my pledge remains the same: to lead with heart, operate with excellence, and always put people first.

Every day, I’m writing the next chapter—with clients, partners, and communities—as I help others make their home dreams real.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The challenges along the way have shaped who I am as both a professional and a person.

When I first entered real estate, I quickly learned that success doesn’t come overnight. Building trust, establishing credibility, and developing a client base takes time and consistency. There were moments early on when I questioned whether I was doing enough, whether my efforts were truly making an impact. But each setback became an opportunity to learn, adjust, and grow stronger.

One of the biggest challenges was navigating market shifts—from economic downturns to the unprecedented changes brought by the pandemic. Each time, I had to rethink my approach, adapt marketing strategies, and stay grounded in service when many were uncertain about the future. It taught me the importance of resilience and innovation, and that real estate isn’t just about transactions—it’s about relationships and trust that withstand market conditions.

Another challenge has been balancing business growth with personal balance. As a wife and mother, I’ve learned to be intentional with my time. Real estate is a 24/7 career, but I make it a point to prioritize family moments while still giving my clients the attention they deserve. That balance didn’t come easily—it took discipline, boundaries, and the support of a strong team who shares my values.

Through it all, my mindset has always been to see obstacles as redirection rather than defeat. Every hurdle—whether it was a slow season, a tough negotiation, or self-doubt—pushed me to refine my systems, strengthen my faith, and double down on my commitment to excellence.

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that smooth roads don’t make strong drivers. Every challenge I’ve faced has prepared me to serve my clients with greater empathy, strategy, and strength.

As you know, we’re big fans of Roslyn Kay Parker Properties. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At RKP Properties, we believe real estate is more than a transaction—it’s a relationship built on trust, strategy, and care. Our mission is simple: to deliver an elevated experience for every client, whether they’re buying their first home, selling a luxury property, or expanding their investment portfolio.

We specialize in residential and luxury real estate across the Charleston and surrounding Lowcountry markets, offering a client-first approach grounded in expertise, creativity, and integrity. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to understanding each client’s goals and crafting a personalized strategy that delivers results. Every property tells a story, and we make it our mission to tell that story beautifully—through professional marketing, targeted exposure, and negotiation that protects our clients’ best interests.

Our brand stands on three pillars:

Integrity – We lead with honesty, transparency, and ethical practice in every deal.

Innovation – We leverage technology, creative marketing, and Compass tools to stay ahead in a constantly changing market.

Impact – We measure success not just in sales, but in the lives we touch and the communities we help grow.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that RKP Properties has become known for excellence through genuine care. Clients often say they feel seen, heard, and prioritized—and that’s exactly the experience I want them to have. We don’t just aim to close deals; we aim to build lifelong relationships and to be a trusted resource for every stage of homeownership.

Through our affiliation with Compass, we have access to industry-leading resources and a powerful national network, yet our heart remains local. We’re proud to represent the Charleston lifestyle—its charm, its growth, and its people.

At the end of the day, RKP Properties is about more than real estate. It’s about helping people move forward—toward new beginnings, bigger dreams, and lasting legacies.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding the right mentor can truly transform your career. My best advice is to look for mentors who reflect the values you want to live by, not just the success you hope to achieve. The most impactful mentors lead with integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to see others grow.

When I started in real estate, I surrounded myself with people who inspired me — professionals who were not only skilled, but also generous with their knowledge. Mentorship, I’ve learned, doesn’t always come from formal programs. Sometimes it’s found in small moments — in a conversation, a piece of advice, or simply watching how someone carries themselves through challenges.

Networking has been just as important. I approach it with authenticity, focusing on what I can contribute rather than what I can gain. Real estate is a relationship business, and when you lead with sincerity and kindness, the right connections and opportunities naturally follow.
