Inspiring Conversations with Aaron Robinson of 13 Stripes Brewery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Robinson.

Aaron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
13 Stripes Brewery was founded by Michael Robinson while he was in the navy and stationed in Monterrey California. From there he assembled a team including his brother Aaron Robinson, and friends Jeremy Bailey, Kenworth Reeves, Brandon Andrews, Robby Andrews, and Jason O’Neal. It took us 5 years from conception to our opening date of May 13th 2017. Since then Michael, Aaron, Jeremy, and Kenworth have acted as owner operators of the business overseeing all of its various needs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think anyone that owns a business would describe that journey as smooth. We’ve operated through the grind of starting a new business, a pandemic, the natural disaster of hurricane Helene, the opening of a second location, the closing of a second location, and over the past few years we’ve been working through the decline in the craft beer industry. Natural fluctuations in the market, and consumer tastes will constantly keep you on your toes and require you to consistently innovate your offerings.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 13 Stripes Brewery?
We are a craft brewery located in Greenville SC, we specialize in classic beer styles. Aside from making quality craft beers our business puts a heavy emphasis on our local community, and the local veteran community. Our name comes from the 13 stripes on the American flag representing the original 13 colonies, and our brand takes its inspiration from the American Revolution. All of our beers are named after various heroes, ships, and quotes from that time period.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
People crave purpose and community more than money or products. If you can provide purpose and community to your staff and customers you will ensure your business will have quality driven staff and radical customers to support you for the foreseeable future.
