Meet Thais Deane of Deane Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thais Deane.

Hi Thais, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always had a passion for helping others thus I started my counseling journey by majoring in Psychology at Union College in NY. I then continued to further my education and obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Barry University in Florida. I also studied religion and counseling abroad in England. I have worked at various inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, and hospice. My dream was to have my own practice and I am blessed to say I am living my dream.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I am a mother and a wife so I have had to navigate those roles with my personal career/business. I can recall being pregnant with my third child during the Covid Pandemic and sitting in for my state licensing exam 8 months pregnant. This was the final chapter in my journey to obtain my independent license to be able to do private practice. Thankfully, I passed and have grown personally and professionally beyond what I could have expected.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Deane Counseling?

I specialize in depression and anxiety but also offer various services such as marriage counseling, grief therapy, services for PTSD, women issues, stress, and ADHD. Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Due to the nature of my work, it is very important to disconnect once I am done for the day. Thus, as self-care I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
