Conversations with Brendan Carpenter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brendan Carpenter.

Hi Brendan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I worked in the financial industry for almost 18 years prior to starting my furniture building and restoration business. I had always done woodworking as a hobby since I was in the Marine Corps.

At one point I was in between jobs in the financial business and started taking on projects for individuals and friends. This started as a part time way to stay busy while doing the next job search. However, it quickly started growing and I just continued doing it until now it has grown into a larger full time business it is now.

I served in the Marine Corp after high school, then went to college at East Carolina University. I worked for one of the national accounting firms before going to work for individual companies serving as a CFO and President in different positions.

I have two sons that are 26 and 25.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Dealing with rapid growth and hiring and training high quality craftsman in such a niche environment was the most difficult.

Learning how to capture new business with limited advertising budgets.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in building custom pieces for individual clients and interior designers. We also restore furniture so that it can be reused/updated to fit current needs.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing my clients very happy with the outcome of our work.

It validates the quality and effort we put into each piece.
