Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond Zayas.
Hi Raymond, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been a web developer since 2006. I used to live in Puerto Rico, but I moved to South Carolina ten years ago. Shortly after arriving, I began working for an insurance agency that serves the Hispanic community. Being bilingual allowed me to assist clients directly in Spanish.
Word eventually got around that I built websites, and in 2018, a Hispanic business owner in landscaping approached me not with questions, but with a clear need: “I need this and that.” That moment opened my eyes to the digital gap many Hispanic entrepreneurs face. They want to bring their businesses online but often lack the tools, guidance, or confidence to do so.
Because I speak Spanish, they feel comfortable and understood. Unlike many American business owners, Hispanic entrepreneurs often aren’t familiar with online platforms, and that’s where I come in and I help bridge that gap.
In 2020, I officially registered my company, Crealo Lab. This year, we proudly celebrate five years of empowering Hispanic businesses across the U.S., not just with websites, but with strategic marketing that drives results.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges come with every situation, and I genuinely welcome them. They test me, push me, and show me whether I’ve grown whether I’m better than I was yesterday.
Some challenges have involved reaching clients outside of South Carolina or even in other countries. Thankfully, online tools have helped me build trust and bridge those distances. Other challenges stem from the nature of the work itself, projects that demand more than what the budget allows, or clients who need solutions that go beyond the standard scope.
But no matter the obstacle, my clients feel confident that I’ll find a way forward. That trust is what drives me. It’s not just about delivering a website or a campaign, it’s about solving real problems for real people, especially those who often feel overlooked in the digital space.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in bilingual web design, marketing strategy, and technical troubleshooting—especially for entrepreneurs who feel overwhelmed by digital tools. What I’m known for is making things simple, urgent, and effective. I don’t just build websites, I create solutions that speak directly to the Hispanic market, in both English and Spanish.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine emotional clarity with technical precision. I understand the cultural nuances, the urgency of small business owners, and the limitations they often face. I guide them step by step, offering not just design, but strategy, education, and confidence.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I see risk as a necessary part of growth. For me, taking risks isn’t about being reckless, it’s about being intentional, prepared, and willing to step into uncertainty when the mission is worth it.
One of the biggest risks I took was launching Crealo Lab in 2020, right in the middle of a global pandemic. I left the security of a steady job to build a bilingual digital agency focused on helping Hispanic business owners navigate the online world. Many of them had never worked with websites, marketing tools, or digital platforms before. I knew the need was there, but I had no guarantee the market would respond.
Another risk has been working with clients across different states and even countries. Every project comes with its own challenges, tight budgets, unclear goals, or technical limitations. But I’ve learned that trust, clarity, and persistence can overcome almost any obstacle. When clients see that I understand their language, their urgency, and their vision, they feel confident even when the path forward isn’t obvious.
I don’t consider myself a thrill seeker, but I do believe in calculated risk. If the outcome helps elevate Hispanic businesses, build trust, and create impact, then it’s a risk worth taking.
