Opened in May 2025 and proudly owned by Dalton and Katharine Taylor, this restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a community hub where friends and family gather to celebrate life’s moments, big and small.
Dalton, with his deep-rooted passion for food and connection with people, created a menu that reflects the essence of Southern cuisine while infusing it with global inspirations. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening our second restaurant in the area had some challenges, however we were well versed from opening our first Copper House in Holly Hill. The restaurant industry is truly a people business. We strive to have great people working for us with a passion for hospitality.

We have a great culinary Team. Our head Chef Benjamin Plumey is no stranger to great dining, most recently sous chef at Circa 1886 and our Sous Chef Josh Grace recently working at Grace & Grit both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the kitchen. They have a passion for quality ingredients prepared with precision.
Cork and Barrel specializes in flatbreads, tapas, charcuterie, and steaks to name a few. Something from the bar pairs well with any meal. Our wine selection is from a boutique wine distributor that only offers smaller batch wine, no mass produced. The bourbon and cocktail offerings are equally impressive, whether it’s a handcrafted old fashioned, muddled mojito or classic Martini.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
We moved to Santee in 2019 and haven’t looked back. The small town life is the life for us. Being just minutes from Lake Marion and several great Golf courses makes the small town a destination for many. Bringing Cork & Barrel to Santee provides some of that big city eats to our small town.
