Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinee L. Felder.
Hi Destinee L., thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Entrepreneurship has always lived in me – not as a pursuit of profit, but as a calling to serve. From the beginning, it was never about the money. It was about the smile on a customer’s face after receiving a service that made them happy. But over time, that purpose deepened. Now, what drives me the most is offering services that leave a lasting impact – something meaningful, something that doesn’t just brush the surface of someone’s life but supports their success and well-being in a real way.
With being both a notary public and a wedding officiant, I’ve had the privilege of meeting countless people from all walks of life. What started as service inquiries quickly evolved into something deeper. People began asking me for recommendations across South Carolina. Over the past year, those questions have come in at a high volume: ‘Where should I shop?’ ‘What’s a must-visit spot?’‘Who can fix my house?’ ‘Do you know a good attorney?’ ‘I just moved – where’s a good daycare?’ And so many more. I’ve taken pride in researching and answering every single one, becoming a trusted stopping point for resources and guidance.
That is what also inspired me to launch The Palmetto Directory, a digital platform designed to support small businesses while showcasing the best of South Carolina to residents and tourists alike. What began as community outreach has now grown into something much larger. I’m not only collaborating with small business owners – I’ve expanded into Guam and am now working with corporations. It’s a journey rooted in service, elevated by connection, and driven by my belief that entrepreneurship should always leave a meaningful mark.
While in college, I’ve balanced being a notary public, and a small business owner. My community has been my foundation by lifting me, encouraging me, and walking with me. And I’ve lifted myself too. I spend countless hours studying, exploring new perspectives, and refining my craft. Every signature I notarize at Statutebook Mobile Notary Service, every ceremony I officiate at Made for Matrimony, and every business and corporation I showcase on The Palmetto Directory is a chance to connect with someone’s life and serve with intention.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I launched these businesses and services, I quickly realized that building a business while still in school takes more than ambition it takes stamina, discipline, and grace under pressure. There were moments I had to educate clients on what I can do, reassure them about processes, and earn trust as a young professional in a detail-driven space.
Navigating legal compliance, scheduling around classes, and sourcing resources on a budget were all very real challenges. But every time someone left an appointment feeling empowered. Whether after notarizing an important document, exchanging vows in a ceremony, or showcasing a small business or corporation I knew the growing pains were absolutely worth it.
I’ve learned how to advocate for myself, stand firm in professionalism, and soften moments with kindness. Struggle is what polished my mission.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The 66 canonical books of the Bible have always been my anchor guiding me through every season, whether personal, professional, or academic. They remind me to stay grounded, purposeful, and resilient.
But alongside Scripture, I’ve found inspiration in the practical wisdom of Tim Ferriss. Tools of the Titans is one of my all-time favorites and truthfully, I’ve enjoyed every book he’s written. His insights on mindset, productivity, and success beautifully complement my faith-based values and entrepreneurial drive.
