Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Grinter.
Isabella, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
So I actually started my small business when I was a senior in high school I had a dream about sewing and making swimwear and a soon as I woke up I looked up to see if it was possible to actually make by hand and it is and I learned everything I could about making swimwear on YouTube. And then I only really started using this as like a little hobby. I wasn’t really working on selling my Bikinies I was just making it for fun because I really enjoyed it. When I went to college, I didn’t really do nothing about it and then when I would come home for the summers, I would sell a little bit may be around 50 each summer until my senior year of college. I joined the CIE program at Ole Miss, which kind of helps with small businesses. My roommate was part of this program so that’s how I got interested in it and knew what was going on and I really helped kind of jumpstart my business and get my brand known around campus and then ever since then I have just been making bikinis and also doing sorority events and making content on social media to get Izzies bikinies word out there.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say it’s been pretty smooth my sales from month to month have been going up. There has never been really any like downfall with the business. There was less this past spring. My sewing machine broke, and I had like 30 orders to do and I was like oh my gosh the parr I wanted wouldn’t come in for like two weeks so I had a buy completely new machine and I’m so glad I did but no real serious bumps in the road so far
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So Izzies bikinis is known for making custom reversible swimwear for an affordable price! All of our bikinis are custom made they can be made to your measurements and you get to pick the fabrics you to pick what you like. You pick the colors the styles, it’s really up to the consumer what they want out of the bikini. I am most proud of how our custom swim make our customers feel. This is many of their first times getting Custom swim and they fall in love with it because it is made perfectly for their body. I’m so proud of how happy we were able to make our customers feel.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
And I would really like to thank the CIE program at Ole Miss. They really got me started in kind of jumpstarted my small business I knew absolutely nothing about entrepreneurship, and they really helped guide me towards how to run a business, my business model and stuff like that and then I would also like to thank my parents because I have been doing this out of their spare living room for the past years of being able to put up with me and provide me the space to do my small business. And then also my first few customers and family members who bought a bikini and I’ve just been supporting me along the whole way.
