Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Rodgers.
Hi Matthew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started at Rey’s as a bar back. I knew I wanted to be more, so I went after being a bartender. I began bartending at Connolly’s and The Avenue. I was at the Avenue for 5 years. During that time I was also working for Table 301 Kitchen and Catering. I wanted to grow beyond what I was doing so I went after being a event manager. I was able to execute that well and continue to til this day
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was told throughout my career, that I would never be successful at bartending or event management ,but I was able to exceed everyone’s expectations. It was not easy I was told by many people I would never thrive.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Event management/bartending but I’m also an aspiring actor and model
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I really don’t do apps or books even though it might help. I fall back on running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, hiking Table Rock or going to the gym to give me clarity and push me further.
