Check Out Dr. Juliana Ekstam’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Juliana Ekstam.

Hi Dr. Juliana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my journey as a pre-med biology double major with the original goal of pursuing neurosurgery. During that time, I had the opportunity to work closely with a naturopathic physician, which really opened my eyes to the power of holistic care. That experience shifted my focus toward chiropractic—it felt like a much better fit for my passion for wellness and helping people live to their fullest potential.

In one of my final trimesters of chiropractic school, I participated in a clinic abroad trip to India, and that experience was truly transformative. I fell in love with working with children and became fascinated by the incredible impact that chiropractic care can have on the developing nervous system. Since then, my mission has been to provide the highest level of care to every individual and family my office serves, with a strong focus on supporting neurological growth, regulation, and overall well-being.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not! Like many meaningful journeys, mine came with its share of challenges. It took a few years to find the right environment that aligned with my passion and purpose. I worked in several different offices after graduation, each offering valuable experience but not quite the right fit long-term.

Ultimately, I realized that in order to truly serve in the way I envisioned—while also honoring my priorities as a mom, business owner and choosing to homeschool—I needed to create that space myself. Opening my own practice was both a leap of faith and a huge blessing. It allowed me to design a rhythm that supports my family while delivering the kind of care I believe in for my community. The road wasn’t always smooth, but it’s led me to a place that feels both aligned and deeply fulfilling.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a family chiropractor with a strong focus on neurological health and development. My work centers around helping children—from infancy through adolescence—regulate, grow, and thrive by supporting their nervous system through gentle, specific chiropractic care. I also care for a lot of moms—especially those in the postpartum and early motherhood seasons—helping them feel more grounded, resilient, and connected.

What I’m most known for is combining clinical excellence with a deeply personal, heart-centered approach. I take time to understand each child’s developmental journey, each family’s unique rhythm, and offer care that reflects both science and compassion.

One thing I’m especially proud of is the calm, empowering environment we’ve created in my office. It’s a space where families feel seen, supported, and encouraged—whether they’re navigating neurodevelopmental challenges, birth trauma, or simply wanting to help their child function at their best.

What sets me apart is the integration of neurological insight with a real-life understanding of what families need. As a chiropractor, a mom, and a homeschooler, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I understand that regulation, learning, behavior, and health are all interconnected, and I aim to support the whole child—not just their symptoms—while honoring the family’s lifestyle and values.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely—I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and influence of several key people in my life.

It really started with my high school anatomy and physiology professor, who first sparked my fascination with the human body and its incredible design. That curiosity laid the foundation for everything that followed. Later, my mentor, Dr. Harding, played a pivotal role in shaping both my clinical confidence and my heart-centered approach to care. She modeled what it means to serve with integrity, skill, and purpose.

Of course, I can’t talk about my journey without mentioning my family. My parents have always been incredibly supportive, encouraging me to pursue my goals with determination and faith. My husband has been my biggest cheerleader—believing in me, supporting the vision behind my practice, and stepping up when I needed space to grow. And my children inspire me daily; they’re the reason I strive to create a balanced life and serve other families with the same care and compassion I hope others would show mine.

This journey has been deeply personal and community-driven, and I’m so thankful for the people who’ve helped me along the way.
